In loving memory of Aner Shapira
Watch the amazing story of 22-year-old Aner, who was killed by Hamas terrorists on October 7th in the vicinity of the Nova festival. Aner courageously defended 24 people who hid with him in a nearby shelter and saved 12 lives by throwing back 7 hand grenades(!) thrown at them. I have heard what he did several times over the last month or so, but this really tells his story with such reverance and care. What a remarkable young man. The story is so heartbreaking 😢 he knew he could die throwing grenades back, but he also knew they had no other options. He told the next man beside him to keep throwing the grenades out of/when he died 😔🥺

My whole heart and soul go out to his loved ones, I lost my oldest son 6 years ago but in a completely different way. Your son was amazing what a testimony to goodness and to life and to God he still is and always will be! This is my first and will be by only comment on the horrendous sadness that is taking place in Israel and Palestinian. I never do social media but feel compelled to write to you and your family as i learned about the scope of that day and your sons almost otherworldly actions. The words of sorrow i feel for the loss of your child do not exist. I too have lost a child so i know the pain. His actions that day are from someplace else in this universe where light governs over darkness and courage over fear.. and he just let it flow through him saving the lives of those around him, sacrificing his own in the process. What a beautiful courageous soul you had the honor of calling son, Brother and Friend. My heart breaks daily at all the children, both sides, that are dying, leaving holes in the hearts of their families forevermore. I wish you strength and peace as you journey through this loss.. never reaching the end, but in time becomes almost bearable. Your sons light can never be extinguished because of his actions that day and i hope you find a measure of comfort in that. I'll never forget ❤
