39 year old 165# 2 strip white belt here. 40 in may. Started bjj last August , I injured a rib about a month in to my training where I did an awkward half cartwheel guard pass attempt (forgot my age for a minute there) and landed on my team mates knee. That knocked me out for almost 3 weeks. Everything hurt , hurt to pull, push , breath. Never got it checked out but it was painful. Made a full recovery there. Love your videos bud. Congrats on the blue belt by the way .

I've had a few injuries during jiujitsu, but the rib injury was the most painful

I broke a rib once during training and not to long after it healed it happened again. I am a lot more aware of taking risk when I shouldn't. Great video!

Ive cracked my rib before early in my BJJ career. Everything hurts, breathing, laughing, peeing. Its amazing how much you use your core in day to day activity. I used to yell for my roommate back then to help lift me out of my bed cause I couldn't move, my ribs hurt so much. Luckily that was like 10 years ago and I haven't had any problems with my ribs in BJJ since. Actually since yours stick out now it actually helps with top pressure scarfold position. Dig it into your opponents diaphragm or floating rib and they will hate it, might even tap to pressure. My instructor calls it the "100kg Rib" lol

Hahaha right! I figured once I could sneeze again without almost dying i was ready to train 🤣. I’m not a doctor but I’m pretty sure the sneeze test is legit lol. That’s great news nothing has happened since!

I had a 300 lbs guy falling on top of me with knee on belly which gave me the same injury. Hurts like hell! Never injury again but that popped out can be painful tho
