Always been a Tory voter, but ashamed to admit that after the last 8 years, basically since Brexit. He seems genuine, and looks like he will be an excellent administrator and communicator. Cause for optimism.

Nothing wrong with that. We have to have some optimism. I think the standout thing in the UK at the moment regardless of anything else is, the problem of hopelessness.
I shall first go to Scotland and laugh at what remains of the SNP.

Love the way Starmer apologists talk to themselves about how they don't mind he is boring. No one ever criticized him for that: no one cares. It seems to be a manufactured argument designed to distract the fact he's intellectually limited, duplicitous and lacking any kind of human decency.
Good of the telegraph to bother editing the start
He looks and sounds like a football manager tasked with bringing Port Vale out of relegation! Good luck.

@@coolceeofficialmusic7608 Sinn Fein came top there, the biggest advocates for Irish reunification. DUP came second. Labour didn't get a candidate. Wouldn't exactly call that a mandate.
Country first, Party second is not quite the same as The People First, Country Second, Party Third. Putting the people first would, obviously, mean eradicating poverty, challenging bigotry, investing into the needs of the community over the needs of Wealth Extraction. Many of us are suffering intolerable distress due to the way the economy is staged. That distress is entirely avoidable.
Well come and congratulations sir
I have never voted Labour (but would have done so in the last election were they in a position to beat the local Tory MP!). But I have to say that I found Kier Starmer to be far more coherent and honest in his responses than ANY Tory in the last 14 years. I am cautiously optimistic about this new Labour government but will keep an eye on what they actually deliver.

In regards to Prisons, the fact that People are returning to Prison is because they are becoming more or a Holiday Camp than a Prison. There are TV's in Cells, Gaming Systems, No Rent charged, 3 Free Meals a Day and a stretch that isn't long enough to punish the Crime. *Get rid of privileges in Prisons *Charge them rent from their earnings they receive *Extend sentences that merit the Crime *Deport Forgein Criminals

I reckon KS is destined to be a great Prime Minister. The public need to be made aware of the challenges the government faces and the choices and trade-offs that must be made. I'd rather be told the truth, however, difficult, than gaslit and bullshitted to by politicians who are only concerned with optics and tomorrow's headlines. Honesty, openess and integrity, so long absent from succesive tory governments, will eventually redress the imbalance.
