Was being a Democrat a career move for her? I hear her parents are Republicans, and I remember when she was a country singer, but she figured there were more Pop Music fans, and to pander to them, she had to go Democrat. I don't really know if she believes the things she says or if she only says them because that is what she thinks her fans want to hear. I sometimes think that if you want to be successful in entertainment, you have to be a Democrat, otherwise people in the industry won't hire you, you will be blacklisted, so maybe Taylor did this big show of being a Democrat to avoid blacklisting and to sell more albums to people who might otherwise boycott her if they though she was a Republican.

That's why i never understood why Candace Owens hated her so much onna regular basis. When Taylor had her one song come out that showed her vulnerability, Candace barely listened to it to even give it a proper reaction or review and said it was just mumbo-jumbo and made no sense. While Michael Knowles actually listened and had some thoughtful insight on it. Even once when Candace and Brett were playing a truth/lie game and Brett hesitated to answer, Candace jokingly said she was fake but then said she was fake like taylor swift. Mind you taylor had nothing to do with video or the game. It's like taylor lives rent free in cadences head. Plus she knows her buddy kenye had beef with taylor in the past and tried to set her up. I know. I used to be a huge fan of Candace, but I can barely watch her now...she consistently uses red pill talking points about women being in the kitchen and such and yet she literally leaves her one month old newborn to go campaign for Vivek...which is a total girlboss move.

I have no issue with Taylor Swift. I don't listen to her music but she's clearly good at her profession and she should be proud of that. She is allowed to have whatever opinion about political topics she likes. Do I think people should have the same opinion as her just because it's hers? Truly! I think that with celebrities, most just don't think too much about politics. In their heads, being right wing= homophobia, sexism, racism. That's all they learn, they don't look for the nuances because they don't have to, because political and economic issues barely ever affect them if they're rich and famous, detached from society. So when a celebrity I like says they're a democrat, I just think "yeah, okay", and move on. Because for me, what they mean is "I support gay people and I'm not racist". They have a very ~ peace and love ~ mentality, so if they're told a specific party can threaten that, they will lean against it. In their own ignorant way, I just know they mean they're not discriminatory people or have issues with any minorities. (Same reason why straight famous people can easily go "Yeah i support the LGBTQIAA+ community!" without being aware of the issues between transgender and transexual people, discussions over whether or not asexuals even belong in it, if nonbinaries are trans... all they know is "Peace and love!" and they don't think about it after that! They're ignorant, but they mean well).

To me, this just seems like a stupid battle for Republicans. It's true for literally any famous musician....if they have a large influence and a predominantly young fanbase, then of course their political beliefs will influence their fanbases. Especially when they're super young and impressionable. Why are they fixating so much on Taylor Swift specifically? Yeah, I've always thought that it's better when artists don't get into politics, but I see how in Trump's case, since a lot of people believe he might endanger American democracy (I'm not saying this is true, mind you, I'm just saying that after the attack on the Capitol, this is what a lot of people believe it's true), a lot of them are willing to "dirty" their non-political artist status in order to be remembered as being against them. If you truly thought Trump was going to become similar to Hitler (and again, I'm NOT saying this is the truth, I'm just saying that some people believe it), you'd make a stand. And Taylor believes that Trum is dangerous, otherwise she wouldn't have written "American Glory faded before me".

However, when the left more frequently shoots themselves in the foot, the media suppresses it. This is a reality we need to understand. On their YT channel, every Chiefs video title had the name "Taylor Swift" in it. Why was this done? Marketing. Obviously, the NFL and Taylor Swift signed a cross promotional deal that has the NFL shoving Taylor in our faces every chance they get in exchange for the Swifties tuning into NFL games. Taylor and Kelce aren't really dating, and we know that. It's a fake relationship, and the NFL fixed Chiefs games to make sure the Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl so that Taylor could be featured there because it's in the contract they signed with her. It's all fake. It's all about money. And that's why it's all so annoying and why I'm not watching the Super Bowl for the first time in 40 years.

Completely agree. Taylor Swift is a role model for girls and young women. We dont need to like her political views to understand that and respect it. Shes modest. Shes kind. Shes giving. Shes literally a wonderful human being who happens to be a liberal. Good people can be liberals. And alienating her and her fans is a BAD idea.

Oh my God who actually cares about Taylor Swift where politics is concerned? She's a singer, and I thought conservatives were against using celebrities to make a political point. This is just a distraction.

One thing I like about Brett is that she is able to call out the mistakes or fuck ups of her side (something the left struggles to do)

I agree. Taylor vocally is not Whitney Houston. But you got to give it to her as a business woman. She has really created a fan base that keeps her on top. That takes some amount of talent and strategy. Also, the overall experience of the eras tour is very impressive. I like her music and the concert. I do not really care who she votes for. She has the right to support whoever she wants. I’m still going to vote for who I think is going to be the best for our country. I do not think attacking Taylor is going to garner new voters. It’ll just appease the current supporters.

Theres a difference between having the opinion, and throwing the weight of the opinion around. As well as attacking the other half. Once you enter into that game, then its on you. Same thing with LeBron James. Don't act like the Left doesn't do that towards any celebrity that they know isn't on board with them.

I mean... not a great comment. You are showing you can't look at things proportionately at all. 1:NFL isn't focused on her, she isn't even shown for 1% of the showing, 2: ads are 10x worse than her being shown, but don't get half the hate,3: you are diminishing one person because they are associated with another person, who is just slightly over-shown, which is mind-boggling to me, 4: you are assuming and saying that she is basically a slut just because you don't like her/that the nfl thinks she's good for business. I think it's fine to feel a way, but fair for her to feel similarly weirded out by an out of touch comment. That's just my thought though.

Soooo.... Rather than use her interest in the game to gain a shared interest with your niece, or at a minimum building up your relationship with your family giving you a chance to influence and talk with/advise her, you, an adult, tore down something she liked, rather than both of you learning what you liked about the other's thing. I can't help but wonder if you'll have much influence on your niece going forward. Except perhaps in the 'If he's fer it, I'm agin it' sort of way. I mean I know the NFL's plan is hoping that Dads might find something they can do with their Daughters (or uncles with their nieces, brothers with sisters etc.) after this Taylor-made craze dies down, and thus grow their ratings and fanbase, but damn, to hate the idea of this 'gateway celebrity' so much you'd hurt your relationship with your family, that's...well, I'd see it as an own goal, right up there with Steve Smith (Edmonton Oilers, 1986, NHL, Hockey's much more my game.)

Honestly this new theory is ridiculous 🙃 like first she’s been in the industry for such a long time I’ve literally been listening to her since I was in middle school and now I’m in my late twenties. She’s also already voted and prefers Biden like that’s not new. Brett you are extremely correct! This new wave of hate is ridiculous especially from the nfl fans. This is the part I don't get. How is it a conspiracy?? She's been pretty open about not liking Trump. Like it's on a Netflix documentary level of 'open'. No one who has the slightest interest and love for Taylor Swift is surprised or thinking she's going to vote for anyone other than Biden. If she instagrammed right now to say Vote for Biden, it would be like "ok, yes I already knew you'd be doing that... and?"

I understand the NFL fans being annoyed, I'm not a NFL fan, and do like some of her music, but I would probably be annoyed too if a celebrity randomly started dating someone from a completely unconnected thing I was interested in and practically high jacking it. The sad thing is all I looked at about the superbowl was her pictures, reactions, and who her friends were. But i havent cared about the superbowl in a while. Maybe this is a plot to get ppl interested in the NFL again, werent their numbers tanking a lot year after year?

I loved Allie Beth Stuckey’s podcast episode on this. I think it was fair and thoughtful, and I loved her main point: people who are going to vote for Biden are going to vote for him, regardless of what TS says. I've been a swiftie for pretty much as long as I can remember and I also come from a Christian conservative household. I really appreciated this video because I agree that the right is wasting time and energy complaining about Taylor Swift. It's so angering to see aggressive republicans criticizing her relationships and songs while calling HER the immature one. Do they have anything better to do? Maybe they could work on appealing to young teenage girls instead of making them feel stupid for admiring a beautiful, kind, and talented singer.

This will sound weird, but... I prefer Taylor's older music. She does have bops these days, but my favorite Taylor song is called "The Best Day." It's track 13 on the "Fearless" album. ...It is about Taylor growing up and times that she had the best day with her mom... Every time I hear it, I cry. I never got any of that, so the song hurts. It hurts so bad I'm blinded by tears. It hurts so badthat my chest hurts. Not because of medical problems; it hurts because I was robbed of all of that. It's dumb. I know... But it's so beautiful, and I want it someday...I know it'll never happen. But I can dream...

I agree that she has some bad opinions but there are people (everyone) in Hollywood with much worse ideas. She has made some bad choices but is not the worst celeb.
