I was thoroughly enthralled by Dil - then thoroughly shocked - then re-enthralled again, like Fergus! I'm a straight white American male but consider THE CRYING GAME a pivotal film in reexamining my attitudes towards people different than me yet sharing universal themes of love and sacrifice. I've watched the film over fifty times and still love it today! Steven Rea and Jaye Davidson should have won Oscars for their courage to play such roles with great commitment leaving us fascinating characters.

What an amazing film. Had such an impact on me. Stephen’s answer ❤️” Aren’t we all love. I think Jaye’s reluctance and almost lack of faith and interest actually helps him play Dil the way he does. Aloof but vulnerable. She can crumble in moments and then be the strongest character fighting for and protecting what she loves. Amazing love story. Reaction videos are all the rage now but have not noticed anyone touching this one. Great film.

The director used the archaic term transvestite or cross dresser, but really Jaye played the role not presenting as a gay man in drag, but as a pre-op transgender or transsexual woman, in terms of the pronouns and being enmeshed in that identity of the time 100% . The film was definitely ahead of its time in 1992. It was a really good movie.

Atheism and believing in people, love and respect for our fellow human beings is the way to a brighter future. As they say..'Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.' We've done religion enough with horrible results. Yes, my impression of Dil was very clear - I perceived her as a woman or transwoman, rather than a gay man in drag. This seemed very clear to me, even if it was not the intention. And he brilliantly acted the part, too. One of my favourite films.

No offense to anyone who enjoyed this movie but I didn't like it because it was too out there for me.

que feo se puso Jaye Davidson, es un hipster de 50 años, con muchos esteroides, me gustaba mas su imagen androgina en los 90s.
