I love Ken Griffin. I love what he did for Illinois and what he is doing for Florida. I love what he has done for his investors, and for the DTCC. He has done a great job for politicians and for the wealthy. I love how much he and the SEC work together to ensure fairness in the market. I love how transparent and honest he even when before the judicial system.

Another banger. Talks about the waitress who can't go to work because the shop's closed during covid, but then in the AI part quips about hundreds of workers not demanding benefits because they've been replaced by AI (and have lost their jobs). Which is it, do you care for the people or are you just in love with sponging up those sweet stimmy checks.

These are the same people that vote for lower taxes when tax is the main source to reduce the debt burden. Sure welfare can be reduced too but ridiculous spending on military and wars should not be given that much priority over welfare.

This man is so interesting to me. I think he’s one of the smartest people (finance+math, but more financially) I’ve ever listened to. He doesn’t want to be mistaken for someone giving financial advice, so he kind of leaves things vague/open ended. A month ago, I found this frustrating, because I wanted to hear HIM speak, but he’d be open to scrutiny and a lot of lawsuits. I will say, there’s a side to him a lot people have never seen. An interesting side (in my opinion). I’ll keep updating this as I listen to his interview. At 6:50, he’s address the country’s spending. While I agree with him, I realize America is not spending as a citizen but as a country. Over the last few years, I’ve come to terms that America is a Country. It looks after the interest of the country and not the citizens. One of the reasons USA is so powerful is it’s political influence. War is a good example. It might not have the most money or misled, but it has the most influence. It spends on allies.

You don’t improve K-12 education until an entire culture rejects equity, DEI, and the rest of that toxic brew that produces the “soft racism of low expectations” and the resulting abandonment of personal responsibility and the consequences that come with it. Racism is not to blame for an entire minority group that, on balance, has no functional mathematics skills. Bigotry is not to blame for the utter destruction of the nuclear family. Systemic educational inequity is not to blame for intellectual laziness when the knowledge of the entire world fits into the pocket of practically every single human in America. Progressivism may be in vogue, but reality is redefining it as the infantile naivety of overly emotional, underachieving populists.

GRIFFIN may have had his highs in life (and most definitely very talented people around him helped with that too), but he is also a product of a very favourable time (an unprecedented period in terms of low capital costs) as he came to these highs (the ECONOMIST recently published a brilliant piece about the factor of luck for anyone's career or downfall). Some of his perspectives sounded awfully unreflected. But when it came to his political views; what the actual F. Instead of making a fair point that the justice system needs to do its work, he falls into the same pro-Trump rhetoric of those who are afraid of losing turf in the future. It's disgusting and painful to watch at the end. Again, GRIFFIN may have been a successful hedge fund manager, but that success -regardless of the fund's volume- certainly didn't bestow sound political views on him. (I think SCHATZKER's body language towards the end speaks for itself; much kudos!)

Bingo. It's common for people in the industry to dodge voting questions but in this case blind Freddy can see Ken's voting for the GOP candidate. Spending under Trump necessary, now the deficit is intolerable (despite the obvious economic benefits). There's also this hand wavey explanation that people aren't happy even though Biden has cleanly navigated a treacherous economic period with solid sometimes bipartisan legislation, mostly by putting an end to trickle down economics rhetoric & policy. So the usual economic indicators aren't sufficient? There's other GOP talking points like nuclear which is impractical/expensive/slow. Though he's certainly right about China & stem and a number of other items. The answer about AI at 24:30 is jankey garbage, ask him about finance, he's not Elon. In America it is usually a dumb question (who are you voting for?) because it's so polarised but in this case it's essentially how crazy/greedy are you? Because one is old but a competent administrator and the other is just as old but tried to stay in power & might lower taxes again. So in this case it's a fair question and Ken gave him crazy eyes 😵‍💫 Let's hope Biden uses the loan forgiveness policy again because (lots of potentially voting) people can see he's serious about it.
