If you haven’t played SV I highly recommend you do. A lot of these cards and trainers will start to make sense to you. These are some of the best arts Pokemon has ever released and people are sleeping on it. Trust these sets will do well in the long run

I agree … the art is FIRE!! Even if it takes 10-15 for the kids growing up with these Pokémon to become adults… they’ll circle back, just like so many of us did. I initially HATED twilight… and I’m still not a fan of the ogrepons… but the IRs??? Absolute 🔥!!!! I have a feeling that eevee card is gonna get bought out HARD and spike to like $50-75 bucks.

@@nightflash262 I’ll be honest, I’m not particularly fond or attached to the newer Pokémon or mechanics, I play all the games and I don’t mind the mechanics for the games but I’m an old fart now… so the newer Pokémon and sets just don’t hit QUITE as hard … but I grew up on the old 151 og stuff… so you gotta figure the kids growing up now will want what THEY know and are familiar with. The newer legendarys, the newer mechanics, the new Pokémon , etc. etc. I mean, let’s be real , you gotta be og but pikachu was the end all be all in the anime when I was growing up!! Piiiiiiiiiii kaaaaaaa CHUUuUuuuuuuUuUuuuuuUuUuUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!! I seriously feel like them putting out so many sets a year, and so many different products just killed the hobby for a lot of people, not just the scalpers or "investors" who never really cared but the normal people. I just don't have the money to collect all this stuff, even if I would love to. It's beyond out of control.

So many sets in one year. It’s a collector’s heaven, but sometimes difficult to make a choice what to collect. Thanks for all the information Danny!

I think they are doing too many sets a year, people can't keep up so they end up just skipping certain sets. The IRs artwork is great but would be better if half of them were textured (like the trainer galleries).

I think more sets is better for collectors cause you can go to events/meet ups and see cards you never seen before and actually trade whereas if theres less sets everyone has all the cards. I guess its bad for people who desire to master set every set they release. I personally just get cards I like from each set and try to make a cool looking binder

They are lmao they're called S.I.R. lmao the I.R.'s are the lower trainer gallary cards (tg01-tg12) and the S.I.R.'s are the higher trainer gallary cards (tg13-tg30). Lmao

Feels to me like paradox rift is being overlooked a bit. It’s tied with paldea for having the most special illustration rares so far in s&v, has many playable cards, and has many popular Pokémon such as garchomp, groudon, and altaria. Plus special illustration rares also aren’t a guarantee in a paradox booster box unlike the sets before it

If I buy a BB of Paldea Evolved I'm guaranteed to get print lines. I'll buy singles for now on

I can’t wait for twilight masquerade and I really want that greninja ex. I absolutely skipped Paldean fates, temporal forces, and paradox rift though. Just too many sets all in a row. I’d love if they’d release fewer sets a year.

In my opinion the amount of product produced per year is crazy. Let's take a collectors pov: 7 sets per year at around 1k per complete master set (meaning that you buy a complete set on ebay without opening any packs yourself) and you straight away have to spend 7k just to keep up with the collection aspect of the tcg. If you also wanna open some packs for fun, then this amount will be at least doubled if not tripled and that is without counting product that you'll buy to keep sealed. We clearly need less sets with better looking cards

let's take the player's pov: it is moronic to have people play for something like a period of 3 months with no updates to the game. you can have 10-15% less cards (art rares included), but not less sets

I agree. Factor in the garbage qc and I almost always have to re-buy my pulled hits as singles anyways.

6 sets is too much, 3 main & 1 special would be perfect in my opinion, everyone is at burn out capacity buyers, sellers, distributers, and the quality of the sets is lacking because of it.

I think you’re completely right because now speedway gas stations will have booster boxes selling single packs. Speedway was bought out by 711 and that’s when they started selling them.

I’m a new collector literally got my first 151 box this week, and I’m very excited about twilight masquerade and it being cheap means better for me lol. I’ll personally be chasing the Greninja and water type ogerpon and I’d still be happy to get any of the ogerpon illustrations or trainers I really like them in the game so getting them in cards would be cool for my collection.

I’m personally excited for Twilight Masquerade, but I do think they need to slow down with so many sets per year. It can be overwhelming, especially speaking as a newer collector

It’s sad this era isn’t as popular because the art works are absolutely gorgeous

I do feel bad for the mom and pop lgs. TPC and their distributers have turned the lgs into the customer rather than a sales partner in getting product in people's hands. They would rather crank out set after set in order to rake in all that pre-order cash. They couldn't care any less about all the sealed product sitting in lgs warehouses that they can't move for msrp.

It's not really pokemon company's job to make the game stores order according to what their market demands. If anything that's the distributors fault for making them have to buy the bad stuff. There shouldn't be less new stuff so that the stores can get rid of their product. Also mom and pop or even small lgs don't have warehouses full of product lol. Mom and pop stores buy 4 boxes and sell 4 boxes so they are actually benefitting from new stuff regularly

@@kyleneeley1 Oh definitely...the distributers are soaking the game stores with bad products. However, Pokemon is not without blame here. If they have a sales model that is so unbalanced and yet they choose to leave brick & morders holding the bag on these products...it's a really bad look IMHO. Warehouse size is relative I guess and there are plenty of places that have to order a ton of crap just so they can get allocations of the good stuff. Hell, Danny just had a video of all the sealed cases stashed away in storage units that he can't move. I think he threw out a wag of $100k of product just sitting. Not only is it just sitting, but business have to declare unsold inventory as an asset...meaning he also has to pay tax on. That's why he is forced to donate, because it at least gets it off the books. I'm sure he isn't the only one. It's a big problem.

So this is a question of TPC boardrooms too. Why is demand down, how to raise it? They could increase quality (pull rate or maybe more art rare type stuff), or they could lower price. Or advertise more I suppose. All Econ 101. Now will they do any of the above?

They are going to go the advertising route tbh. The thing is that in Japan the pull rates are slightly better than they were in the past, for TCPi sets they also have increased pull rates (i.e. compare XY sets vs SWSH or SV sets), but one problem is that the amount of ultra rare and secret rare cards have dramatically increased compared to that time.

I agree, quality over quantity. I’m over the off centering with every set this year. Also, would be cool to have textures on all IRs. I pulled the Lumineon Crown Zenith the other day, which has the texture, and it’s too gorgeous! All IRs need that treatment.

I'm very excited for this set specifically for the Illustration rare gallery. Absolutely love the Pokemon & trainer cards due to playing Scarlet & Violet.

Tons of Pokemon products just sitting on the shelves at my local Target. No one is touching them anymore. Increase in price, decrease in value = overkill

I am really disappointed with this set. Since it is the 6th mainset from S&V you have to compare it to Chilling Reign which was the 6th mainset from S&S. I understand that you have to give spotlight to new pokemon, but compared to the both Calyrex Vmax Alt Arts or the 3 galarian birds, these SAR look mostly so uninspired (except the Ursaluna). The Art rares are cool, but why should I open a box for 3 random ones out of them, when I am not even interested in the „rare“ cards of the set? Temporal forces also put the emphasis on new Pokemon, but they also got breathtakingly beautiful SAR which is in my opinion a crucial component to getting people to like the new Pokemon.

@bksupply8186 that's the thing. I WAS around. Trainer Gallery was the greatest new gimmick. Base and them sucked but we got more cool stuff. SV started strong and now is just back sliding.

This is the first set that has over 10 cards that I need in my collection since Fusion Strike, probably the first time I will actually go the route of a booster box personally

As a new collector, thanks to SV151, I think I have little interest in Temporal Forces and Twilight Masquerade because I’m burnt out on keeping up with the speed these sets are coming out. I am still on Paldean Fates lol

Am I excited for Twilight Masquerade? There's always a certain degree of excitement whenever a new set releases. Am I hype for this set? Not exactly. I do love a ton of the cards in the set but I'm not in any rush to open it.

Been collecting for 15 years. SV base is a very underrated set. People are still collecting sword shield so they're sleeping on the new stuff. But the new stuff is a million times more fun to open compared to sword shield era, and the art is amazing as well. 151 will probably be the best set to invest in for the long run

idk about all that but I do agree SV esp Paradox rift. completely flying under the radar. Im conflicted whether I pickup a case of Brilliant stars and add more SWSH. or get the Temporal forces case. I am very loaded on PR i believe in it more thn anything when looking for cheapest set

The problem is so many of those great artworks are being used on a Pokemon no one cares about.. SWSH largely in part saved their heavy hitter arts for the heavy hitter pokemon, which generated high demand. Ain't no one gonna be demanding that illustration rare Timburr 😂

@@trevordonnelly4185 Everyone said the same thing when SWSH came out. No one wanted chilling for years, look at it now. SV artwork is in a whole new league above chilling and SWSH in general. Plus you're forgetting the first 5-6 sets of SWSH were/still are hated by collectors. SV first 4 sets are much better in every way compared to SWSH first 4 sets. Also 151 is on evolving skies level, and paldean fates is 100x better than shining fates. Special dragon set coming out in August will probably be amazing (rayquaza? dragonite? zardy?). SV dominates SWSH in almost everyway for the same time frame. Sun Moon was also not well received until ultra prism and then it got insanely good. SV has been good from the very first set. Not a single bad set yet and twilight mask is looking very solid

I saw a Temporal Forces sleeved booster display in Sheetz this month lol. TM isn't a set I'm super excited about. Singles only for me this time.

SIR trainers are the only thing making me want to open some packs. The IRs are okay, but those will be cheap enough to buy singles for as usual

6 sets per year means Ill be buying singles for the most part. Barely any sets got me hyped in SV so no point in deopping 200+ on sealed if i can buy my chase cards for less than that. Patience is a virtue as always of course

I just got back into the hobby at the start of the year and Ive been blown away how often sets release. Insane. I think Temporal Forces looks really good, but I still havent even had the opportunity to open any product and Twilight Masquerade release is just around the corner..... I think the mask alt art cards are underrated, esp if they have some really good textures to match the art, but the set is uninspiring outside of a couple cards. The froslass looks amazing and the loyal 3 cards really good - nutty that those last 3 were cut as promos.

When are the boxes shipped from the card colosseum ?

they are making it harder to complete sets and having less time between sets to collect the set. They are going to burn collectors out.

Not many of the cards are hype for collectors, and there's like 5-7 I need for tcg tournanents. I'm sure other players feel similar. If pull rates are garbage then this set will be skipped by many.

I agree, quality over quantity. danny is the only pokétuber I listen to when it comes to stats, advice, etc. he does his research, cares about his community, advice is always on point, and basically knows his stuff. always quality content .. pokémon company, take note of this man

I was actually kind of excited for the timberr, Lairon and tatsugiri artworks for the IR's other than those, and the bloodmoon ursaluna SIR, I realised I dont really care for most of the special pulls. Probably getting an ETB or something and the rest as singles.

Problem with that is most people don’t want these cards. It’s not like evolving skies where everyone wanted something from the set whether it was the trainers, moonbreon, evee evolutions, dragonite, rayquaza ect…

Yeah I’m just not feeling most of these new sets I’m a fan of the character cards and some special arts but not enough to want to open product.

Personally, outside of nostalgic sets like 151 that I think will do great in the future I now only buy a case of PC ETBs for each set that I simply put away in a closet. Even my monthly $5 Gamestop credit hasn't gone towards a booster pack in a few months.

Man I’m still stuck on Paldean Fates lol I love the pull rates of Fates and the cards are beautiful. I also love collecting all the different baby shinys

I'm excited for this set. I think they could've done the SIR masks differently, but overall I enjoyed the DLC and have been looking forward to seeing some of the new Pokemon in card form.

Eevee or Chansey will be our promo they tend to do stuff like that

This set easily has some of the best Illustration Rares along with a Waifu Tax Chase card, this set will hold up well I’m uninformed about how the competitive landscape will change with this set

This feels very similar to what MTG did recently. Too much printing and sets and ancillary products.

As a collector the hobby is just too expensive now. Too much product, way too big of sets and too expensive. Have to be super selective on what I go for.

I agree they need to go back to quality over quantity. There’s too many sets that come out every year, it’s hard to keep up.

I havent been excited for a SV set since 151.. there are a lot of degen collectors out there who love to ape into hyped sets that have high value higher end alt arts.. Hopefully they are saving the heavy hitters for the back half of the generation.

Some of the ARs in this set are cool. Like the Pinsir is fine, Tatsugiri is cool, really dig the Chansey card and the Eevee card is cool too but that’s it for me 🤷🏽‍♀️

I personally love Temporal Forces as someone who likes to complete sets with great art. Masquerade doesn't seem awful, but I'm def disappointed in the SARs. Not sure if I'll 100% this set because of that combined with low pull rates.

Longing for a return to 4 sets a year with maybe 1 special set. There's something to be said for the old adage "Less Is More". The current release schedule is such that it's not feasible to finish sets...I have to be content to complete the black star promos, and let the regular set binders have many holes. There's only so much I can budget for cards per year. Pokemon may force themselves into another "down" era like the Black & White and early XY years if they continue to flood the market and alienate the grass-roots buyers with an over-abundance of product.

I have opened two boxes of Japanese crimson haze and love all the IRs. And from what I have seen Mask of Change is the same. Those IRs are awesome. Looking forward to the English version.

Was Temporal Forces ever confirmed short printed?

As a player, there is alot im excited for: Dragonpult, Blood Moon Uraluna, Ting-Lu, etc. As a collector, its hard not to want every IR and SIR in every SV set. Simple the best art we have ever got. As an investor, there is no rush to stock up on this set yet. Rather park my money in 151, CZ, Paldea Evolved, LO, FS, Evolving Skies, BS, AR.

Got two Pokémon Center ETBs 😊 might pick up some more products for promos and ripping just for fun 😊

Great video Danny! Twilight is going to be the set first I'm not buying, since getting back into the hobby 2 years ago. While there are some gorgeous IRs of Pokemon I love, It's just not good enough to compensate on the horrible themes and horrible special IRs. I will just stick to singles this time

We need more cards like Evolving sky's Unified Mind, unbroken Bond, and like Ancient Origin those were amazing artworks specially like Shining Fates or Cosmic Eclipse, XY era was excellent product.😢

For me, the gamble isn't worth it to buy booster boxes anymore. Before, you were "guaranteed" at least some kind of hit and there was a chance you could get the big card. Now with 40% of boxes not even giving you a chance... not worth the gamble. Buy a box or two to keep sealed maybe buy a box to open to get a lot of the commons and uncommons

Every SV set other than 151 is a sleeper set. Everyone has their head up their ass. The only set I don’t care about is ObF (Zard is lame).

This is the 99th English set. Hope the 100th English set will be amazing.

I love all the sets in SV. I just love pokemon cards and I love opening pokemon cards. I hope they don't get rid of booster boxes since they are the best per pack price. I certainly won't be spending as much if they get rid of my way to get more packs for less. I think people will look back fondly on the SV era for the arts.
