Hi Zeark! It makes me happy you enjoyed the movie so much, I commented on a YT poll you posted about whether or not you should go see the movie, and I said I just saw it, and you said I convinced you to see it; it made my day! I absolutely love the slow-horror style that this movie utilized, it was a lot of walking and quiet background conversations from other characters, but to me it made every word said stick out so much more. The lore that they did give us was really interesting to me, and although really simple, I think it was creepy enough and pretty cool. It was just such an experimental movie and I think anyone who enjoys horror should see this in a theatre with a good crowd like you said, I’m really happy I got to. It was funny how you mentioned that the movie was basically dead by daylight at some points; I saw this movie sitting between my roommate and my girlfriend and both of them whispered “dead by daylight” in my ear without realizing they both said it. The yoga kill definitely had Mortal Kombat fatality vibes to it too, which made it all the better.

Everyone talks about the yoga kill which was like woah woah woah but imo the wood splitter was worse. The camera sitting in one spot not moving for the entire shot as Jonny just kinda..played with it? I was in an almost empty theater. It was gnarly and I most definitely had a good time.

my fav horror flick of the year. i think it will change with longlegs or maxxxine but yeah this movie was dope af. i like that its different and some people just dont like different. like i can see this being a cult classic in 20 years or so. Also you say the movie isn't deep but I feel like it was pretty deep. theres tons of persepctives you can take from this film. Was he a zombie, was he an animal, is he human, was he blind etc. and the car ride kinda puts it all into that and kinda makes you guess and understand the movie more. One of my fav scene is when he went underwater ad the camera just stayed still for like 3 min with the anticipation of the chick dying. my only ick was the stupid ass victims ecspecially the yoga girl, like what was she doing lol

It's a very meta movie in the sense that it expects you to know the genre tropes in order to understand it. Everytime there's a moment like the one at the end of this film in any other slasher film, the killer returns to finish the job in a horrifying manner. During this last scene, I was on the edge of my seat, WAITING for that to happen. They show you the forest all the time, when she's limping towards the road, when the old lady picks her up, when they're in the car, when the car stops, etc... I was expecting Johnny to suddenly appear out of nowhere all the time, but he never did. It was a clever genre subversion, because it puts you in the girl's shoes. She will ALWAYS feel this way, she will never be sure if the killer is gone forever or not. She will definitely not camp again in her whole life, that's for sure lol You end up FEELING her trauma in a very intimate way. But I guess if the movie doesn't make you feel that, then it'd be understandable if you think it's a bummer ending.

I believe its actually the first slasher film that didn't feel shallow to me. I have a sense that the creators smartly understand that slashers are not excluded from having a theme, and this movie uses the framing of a friday the 13th movie to express itself as a reflection on the meaningless violence of nature. Its a simple theme but its expressed very concisely. This, on top of how great it is just as a regular slasher, makes it extremely impressive to me.

The most relaxed I've ever been watching a horror film.
I JUST watched this and had to come back to say that holy shit I really really liked it this video is one of many that made me watch it so thanks!
Getting crop dusted in the theatre definitely sounded like the goriest part of the movie. 😆
I felt like this guy was very creative with his killing. It wasn't just for a wow factor but it was who he was. Jason and Michael seemingly killed mindlessly. It was almost accidental that it was so gruesome. This guy like enjoyed his work.
I just wanna say I just discovered your channel and you’re definitely one of my top tier horror channels!! just subscribed! 😃

I’ve really enjoyed your takes and as a HUGE Friday the 13th fan I’m even more excited xD
Stunning work
im not a gore fan but i honestly sympathized with Johnny with his fathers memory and the toy car moments. i was like awww. i liked it alot.
That opening minute is top tier
The end scene was the best part of the movie.
bro just realized the charm of the cinema
Great work as always!

Also relatable theater experience, i went to see elemental and this annoying toddler was kicking my seat ☠️.
Bruh, you hit everything on the head. The cinematography was great from the ratio of how it was shot, to each angle. Everyone talks about the yoga kill which was like woah woah woah but imo the wood splitter was worse. The camera sitting in one spot not moving for the entire shot as Jonny just kinda..played with it? I was in an almost empty theater. It was gnarly and I most definitely had a good time.

Dude that kill was so disturbing
Me and the wife went to see this during the weekend. It was us 2, and 2 other people in the back. And two people in the back literally left during the opening shot. But me and my wife gave it a chance and loved it! This is not a movie for the impatient though, like Skinamarink.
My theater was pretty involved in the scenes too! The kills were crazy in this movie, it was so so intense, the yoga scene and the wood cutter scene were gut wrenching…loved the movie
It was my first film in theaters since Evil Dead Rise. Just me & 3 other very respectful people. Glad I saw it big, them woods is sexy.
So excited to watch it
Brother you made my day
Lmaooo @ Johnny knowing how to swim 😂😂😂
I genuinely really liked the ending 😂
Truly a violent nature indeed
I LOVED the ending!!! This movie seemed satirical because it really exposed how stupid the survivors can be. Bu at the end when it switches perspectives it was terrifying. The sound and cinematography really did shake me.
my fav horror flick of the year. i think it will change with longlegs or maxxxine but yeah this movie was dope af. i like that its different and some people just dont like different. like i can see this being a cult classic in 20 years or so. Also you say the movie isn't deep but I feel like it was pretty deep. theres tons of persepctives you can take from this film. Was he a zombie, was he an animal, is he human, was he blind etc. and the car ride kinda puts it all into that and kinda makes you guess and understand the movie more. One of my fav scene is when he went underwater ad the camera just stayed still for like 3 min with the anticipation of the chick dying. my only ick was the stupid ass victims ecspecially the yoga girl, like what was she doing lol
yoooooooooo!!!!!! new zeark vid!
The post credit scene was Johnny and me makin out on my bed and it fades to black as he takes the mask off for me.
ngl when I saw the yoga part I just found it funny and chuckled. Maybe I have seen way too much Mortal Kombat fatalities to not get grossed out by it.
See now I’m definitely going to watch it
Oh yay! What a pleasant surprise! ✨❤️
I love the idea that this movie had made so much of it feel like you’re the killer from a 3rd person perspective, it sort of gives a weird interesting feeling in a good way
I watched this movie with my boyfriend in a theater. It was only us and I honestly think that made the experience so much better. I personally enjoyed this movie a lot because of the unique way it was filmed. The whole time i almost felt isolated despite being in a public space which added to the whole killer pov
I'm so glad this is getting love. I went a few days ago and yeah, this was fun. The slow pace didn't kill the experience and THE YOGA KILL. H O L Y F U C K

@Zeark even the first kill, Johnny the silly goose 😂😭
New zeark vid!
I really love slasher, but looks like there is no release date in brazil, hope to see in streaming soon, i love the aesthetic of this
The yoga kill was insane
the sink made of teeth triggered me so bad oh my god. still love you tho. and so does my roommate.
I loved the ending to this movie. It made me so anxious and yet it was ironic.
I like watching horror movies at home because I can skip the jumpscares 😅
I watch it alone, daily. That's me.
Ahhhh I missed a zeark video by 7 daysss how did that happennn
Thank you for reviewing movies I’m too lazy to watch
I have to watch it!
We not gonna talk about bro having his dogs out at the theater💀 Ik it was some random picture
i honestly really liked Jhonny's face, its not really deformed but really demonic, sorta orcish, it caught me off guard and id shit bricks if i saw this in the woods
Funnily enough I didn’t find main parts of the movie boring or slow, but I can’t even recall what the last 10 minutes was because I checked out. I think it was dialogue heavy, something meditative but yeah that ending dragged

Exactly how I felt lmao
I just got home from seeing it. In the UK it doesn’t come out for another couple weeks but I got to see it at a secret screening where they didn’t tell you what the film was, just gave clues. 35 people walked out and I think some of them were hoping for MaXXXine, others just didn’t like it. I fucking loved it, exactly what I hoped it would be. I don’t know anyone else who’s seen it so haven’t been able to discuss it and I really want to
I had a similar experience to that theater fart… During The Black Phone, I was right next to a chubby dude with really heavy body odor… but it weirdly smelled a lot like a musty concrete basement.
The teeth sink was disgustingly beautiful.😕
Dam all for a necklace?
It has one of the greatest kills of all time.
i like this guy get him a million subs NOW.
The ending is what holds me back. It turns paranoid suspense into a long, drawn out boring ending with nothing happening. I feel like if they didn’t blue-ball us in the end it would’ve been such a good movie

Yep. Agreed.
Honestly this would have been a good half hour movie, if you're into the long lingering shots, this movie has it
Man you’ve grown since the submechanaphobia days. Keep it up legend!
Where the hell can I watch this? No theatres are playing it around me.
Everytime they chaned the shot from the killer to the teens i kept trying to find like a silhouette or outline of the killer i always felt like i saw something that just kinda vaguely look person shaped but i could just be looking into to hard. Did anyone else think that or an i just crazy. I tried so hard because everytime it switched back i thought i should of atleast been able to see a little of him givin the shot is the dirrct opposite from where he was standing before changing to hocer over the teens
Honestly great video man! The only thing I completely disagree on is that the “Yoga kill” was not nearly as brutal as Terrifier 2 bedroom scene
I felt like Dune 2 was taking forever to get going, I remember sitting there for like 40 mins like “c’mooooorrn!😾” But this movie in great, and also there’s a french movie thats not out yet called “Les Chambres Rogue” (Red Rooms) when that finally comes out here is going to be crazy, and of course we can all agree “Longlegs” is gonna be the one everyone will be talking about.
Like you said I kinda didn’t like that it was slow but I also really liked it
YEAHHHH
ayyyyyyy last movie I saw in theaters was dune part 2 as well
U should talk about Arcadian
I believe its actually the first slasher film that didn't feel shallow to me. I have a sense that the creators smartly understand that slashers are not excluded from having a theme, and this movie uses the framing of a friday the 13th movie to express itself as a reflection on the meaningless violence of nature. Its a simple theme but its expressed very concisely. This, on top of how great it is just as a regular slasher, makes it extremely impressive to me.
damn dude your voice doesn't have to go up at the end of every sentence like you're asking a question

Okay Andrew? Thanks for the comment? Have a great day? 🤨
Tbh I expected so much and only got so little. One thing that angered me the most was the fact that I didnt even fungkin remembered the name of the last character because the movie poorly introduced the "protagonists" of it. Also the end was extremely unsatisfying. Like I want to love the movie because of the great camera work and great kills but the script and cheezy acting kills it for me.
Anyone know when this drops on shudder?
