When Boeing had their high-profile Starliner failures this year, and it was SpaceX that launched people first, NASA admitted (just a few months ago now) that maybe they had focused their skepticism too much on SpaceX and not enough on Boeing.

@Toori Baba that's because of the NASA he sent rocket into spaces... Why do you think he did his company in the USA under NASA space program but not in South Africa for example? The NASA planed it in the 90s already, by 2012 they will sue reusable rocket he didn't even crated that concept nor invented it but the NASA engineers did. For the competition, what result did he bring that wasn't there before? Humanity sent people into space 60years ago already. He didn't build the ISS, he didn'tmake a moon trip, and no, he didn't make a sustainable space travel. Space travel will tend to be cheaper and cheaper over the train like any technology, car 100yo were only for rich people. Ariane 5 made price lower for decades and at an higher altitude. Ariane 6 will follow. Y all believing some marketing, not the fact. he is just a investor not a creator. He did nothing new, he did nothing crazy. Landing on Mars with astronauts should be possible very soon (as in 5-10 years). Setting up a Mars base that is permanently manned is the next step but is also doable (maybe 20 years?) However, Elon’s vision is a self sustainable colony on Mars with hundreds of thousands of people. Not only do we have to transport all those people (and material) to Mars, we also have to develop the tech to survive long-term without any supplies from Earth. Huge challenge, I doubt it will happen in our lifetime.

Just shows he sticks to a plan and refines it till completion. They laughed when he said he’d help NASA build a moon base, they laughed when they said his Car company was a niche segment for rich people’s toys, they also laughed when he said he would change the Automotive landscape to fully electric. Make no mistake any automotive company that did not take seriously just got a huge wake up call. Giga Berlin and rumoured Giga U.K. while breaking into the almost impossible China market. His plan was split into two as it got too big and he’s still only on part one. An incredibly focused individual that has his flaws as everyone has granted. Some of the battery tech we will see over the next five years where probably a decade even two away, a bit like without WW2 they imagine we would be now in the 1980’s with regard to technology. Some consider him a freak of nature but he’s simply the next Bill Gates, Steve Job etc that brings talented people together and moves in part something like Space rocketry , EV Cars, Communication via satellites, Power solutions to the next level.
