Imran Khan Opens Up On Stardom, Steroids & Why he was Missing from Bollywood | Karishma Mehta | Ep80

Ойын-сауық

“When I separated in 2019, I was at my weakest-emotionally & physically. I’d say, I was a husk of a human being. I couldn’t even get myself out of bed, I would stay in my pajamas and just be. But the days when I’d have to take care of my daughter Imara, no matter how weak I felt, I’d pull myself up!”
When he made his debut in 2008 with Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan was immediately coined as the new ‘chocolate boy’ in Bollywood. From becoming the poster boy for romantic comedies to experimenting with roles, he then suddenly vanished from the world of films, for almost a decade.
And today, we have Imran Khan here with us! Join us for a conversation that’s as candid as candid gets. Imranl talks to us about everything-from how his life changed after Jaane Tu to being skinny-shamed in Bollywood, and from fatherhood to struggling with depression, and lots more.
He even answered the biggest question on the internet today about him-when will Imran make a comeback?
This one’s a conversation unlike any other, an actor opening about stardom, steroids, mental health and so much more…Do not miss it!
We also spoke about:
. Imran being a child actor
. The story behind Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
. Not letting success go to his head
. Being skinny shamed
. Co-parenting
. When will Imran be back?

About Humans of Bombay -
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 10 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres - stories of love, hope, faith, and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 6M!
Our idea is simple - to strike a chord with our community and catalog the beat of humanity, one story at a time.

Imran speaks honestly and from the heart . Being a practising psychotherapist I truly appreciate the way he has owned and addressed (and continues to) his mental health challenges. He is no longer afraid of his vulnerability and that makes him truly courageous.Thank you Humans of Bombay.

It's so good that a man, who is also an actor is talking about emotions and vulnerability. It's good that one can go through many waves in life and sail through the waves.

It feels so good to hear the backstories from imran khan himself. I saw all his romcoms growing up and nowadays bollywood romcoms can't compare to his films of 10 years ago. When he says he didn't have that bollywood hero aura, I think his aura is what bollywood needs more of, to make memorable films like "Ek mai aur ek tu" and movies that were before their time like "Delhi Belly". Till date, Delhi belly is one of the most hilarious films I've seen as a 20 year old.

I've been a huge fan of him since my school days. When he disappeared from the movies and media, I missed him a lot! I'm currently in the worst phase of my life, I've often thought about giving up too, but I'm trying to survive each day and make my life better in some way, although it's not helping a bit. I re-watch his movies a lot! They remind me of the simple, happy times, they are my comfort movies. I was also a part of #LautAaoImran thingy on social media and I'm so happy he's back with a stronger personality and is talking about mental health! I've watched all of his interviews and they keep me going, they keep me hopeful. As he mentioned how his favorite star helped him in not giving up, he has been the same for me. I hope you keep doing such interviews, more power to you! (As you taught us "Maana kabhi kabhi saare jahaan mei andhera hota hai, lekin raat ke baad hi toh savera hota hai")

I subscribed after listening to this episode with Imran. Wow! what a giant of a man, what a sense of ethics and passion for the craft. Not only was Imran unfiltered, vulnerable and honest, he was so giving in his thoughts. The end note with Michael J Fox was truly uplifting : doesn't matter how many times you fall, as long as you pick yourself up each time. Bravo, Imran ❤Can't wait to see you back where you belong. With a bigger bang and a source of inspiration for all!!

Intellect is in his genes but he needs to prove himself massively and not be in the shadows of his mamu jaan Aamir Khan. Now, competition is huge and audience choice has changed moved mainly into performance, content and new makers. He needs to start interacting with the new block and ask for her work. Start delving more into stage, web series and films at last.

He isn't even a good actor to begin with. It's just his PR team campaign. He got ample chances during his time and he couldn't match upto the talent that was around at the time. It will be even more difficult now since there's even more talent available. Even if he gets another chance, it's highly unlikely he will be able to make it. However, he speaks well. So , he should probably look into podcasting, hosting etc.
