Improvising over Minor Swing Made Simple with the Magic of Triads - Free Guitar Lesson

Improvise with triads over Django Reinhardt's Minor Swing.
Find out how memorizing just a few simple chord shapes gives you the key to rich and varied improvisation!
👉🏼 Get notified when I release my next free guitar tutorial! - SUBSCRIBE to my channel.
See how much you can do with three simple chord shapes -
Taking Django Reinhardt's Minor Swing as an example, you learn how to create great improvised solos based only on the three notes of each chord (in Minor Swing - Am, Dm and E), how to embellish this sound with neighboring notes to get any sound and color you like without any need to understand theory, how to use classy techniques, how to stick to the form and how to use motifs to give structure to your jazz solos.

Yaakov. I'm retired now, but I am one of the most experienced guItar teachers in the UK. 43 years as a senior teacher across three local authorities. I love the simplicity of your teaching. So many online guitar teachers talk so much they often obscure the point that they are trying to get across! I have shared your link with some of my former colleagues, a couple of whom are very well known indeed. Keep up the good work.

Brilliant lesson, possibly the best Gypsy Jazz lesson ever! You show technique and melodic concepts over a standard song form so that it can be instantly be used by the student. It is easy to hear the early jazz masters like Django, and Charlie Christian using chord shapes, it sounds a lot more musical and logical than playing scales. Please keep the song based coming .

As in if I had a 5 note motif and the third note was the root of the chord. Would that mean when I change chord to repeat the motif I would have that chords third note the root of that chord (not scale root unless in the 1st mode)

That was a really great and clear lesson. I don’t play gypsy jazz, mostly great American songbook jazz, but I’m going to apply the principles you demonstrated. Of course, I’ll start with minor swing

These ideas are perfect for you. Gypsy Jazz sprang up out of Django Reinhardt's playing, but he himself was playing American swing!
