I was raised on this knot for all light line duty. My dad taught me this, only difference being 7 turns instead of 5. In 45 years on the flats, rivers, lakes, streams of N Florida this knot has never failed me once.

I have been using this since I was a kid. I learned this off of an old box of stren fishing line. Been using it ever since with no issues at all. This is a good knot to use! Thanks for the video!!

It was one of the earliest knots I was taught. First was taught cinch knot then improved version.

Improved goop catcher lol im never a fan of tag ends pointing forward. I've seen guys do an overhand knot on the tag end then just a regular clinch knot but improved with a stopper so it doesnt slip and the tag end is facing the way i like.

Never in 40yrs have I used an "improved" clinch knot, and never had a problem.

Only works well with lighter line. Passing tippet through the second loop (Improved) part is harder to do with heavier line/leader. It is great knot but that is the big limitation.
