    This video was one of the most eye opening for me because I have always adjusted my f/stop to get the background blurred out. "Who knew" I could just get closer to what/who ever I was taking photos of. Nice work, thanks for this tip (I'm doing my nieces wedding in a month, so I am brushing up on my portrait know how before I disappoint her with "free" but terrible wedding photos :) .

Good to see you using the Fujifilm X-H2, for a change, along with 2 of the lenses that I also use regularly with this camera. My question is, however, why do you find it necessary - not for the first time - to denigrate the British weather? I am sure that you get sunny days where you are in the country just as we do here in North Norfolk!

    As I said in my first comment, yesterday, another useful and informative video, for which many thanks! As on so many of your videos, much of the success of your presentations relies on the experience and professionalism of your model. I know you have made a video, in the past, on 'working with your first real model' and how valuable it is to do so, but have you made one on finding your model in the first place? If not, is this something you would consider? I can see how working with someone like Chloe would be extremely beneficial but, as a complete beginner in this business of contacting professional models (despite being very ancient in photography and years) I don't know how to go about this, and, as an amateur, is this even possible?

    Gavin.. what filter did you use?

  • @vaughn94
    @vaughn942 ай бұрын

    Since you are using a flash, with that wide of a depth of field, normally you would be having to shoot at 1/250 or 1/200 of a second shutter before loosing sync with your camera. I know you can either shoot in high speed sync and shoot at a high shutter speed, or use an ND filter to cut the light going into the lens. Whenever I shoot with settings similar to yours with the fill flash, it's too bright. Which would you recommend, an ND filter or High Speed Sync?

  • @GavinHoey

    @GavinHoey

    2 ай бұрын

    Both work well once you master the technique, so which ever feels best for you and your flash gear is the way to go. Personally I prefer HSS as it's built right in to the flash / transmitter, so no extra kit needed.
