first off, this comment has nothing to do with the video, but the hardware does look awesome, especially the controller. second, i've been a subscriber since probably ever since the channel launched 9 years ago, along with all the other rev3 shows that i think are pretty much no more. truthfully i hadn't kept up with the film riot crew in...years. but thanks to the youtube algorithm, this video popped up in my recommended. i see how older josh and ryan look, josh--no longer a teenager but now a man, and how ryan's toned down a bit in his delivery and also how seasoned he looks compared to his clean shaven appearance at the start--the salt and pepper suits him. there really wasn't a point to this comment, it's just like visiting some old friends you hadn't talked to in a while, and checking in to see how they're doing. i'm glad to see y'all are still around and are still putting out great content. cheers fellas.

@filmriot there is a real lack of clarity on how beginner, solo filmmakers get into Virtual Production. I purchased a course on this a few years ago, but it didn't really elaborate beyond green screen work. Since you will be creating a future video with the Axibo PT4, it would be helpful to make a separate video series on setting up the five "affordable", popular Netflix cameras - Panasonic BS1H, Sony PXW-FS7 (used) and FX3, Canon C70, and Blackmagic URSAs - for use with Unreal and this system. It will be further useful to know how to tie in an LED projector and, if possible, inputs from physical lights without a VIVE Mars.

🤯What a rad tool! This would open up sooo many new types of shots that are nearly impossible without a control rig. 😍

Would you think something like this could be used for live graphics on a football field? I’d would like to be able to set it up as a high and wide shot with the ability to pan and zoom the camera with the 1st down and other graphics staying on the field. Do you think using this unreal setup far away from what I am shooting would break the graphics?

I think what is kinda insane, is that for barely 1k more you can buy a whole 6 axis robotic arm (like the ufactory xarm) with a payload of 5kg and sub millimeter repeatability. The few drives and carbon tubes for that price tag are just…. crazy.

CG for actors is still difficult to pull off without a massive budget with any level of realism. This on the other hand is helping to facilitate digital sets, set extensions and being able to film live action talent in any environment you can imagine in Unreal or other 3D DCC's. This is a huge win for small and independent film makers that may have a story ideas but not a budget for locations, permits and getting talent to those locations. Then there is weather lighting on and on... There still a lot of creativity outside of just the actual filmmaking part when you get into 3D that is also very satisfying - especially when your able to produce something that would have been inaccessible to small budget filmmakers prior to this type of technology.
