    The slopes are actually downhill, but the shooting/vision angle and the construction of the masts make it look like the slope pointing uphill. When the cam is turned, we can see that actually the slopes lean downhill toward the center.

    Wow, very very cool, even after seeing how it "really" is built, when you move it back to the original position, it still looks like they are all slanted uphill, nicely done!

    Perspective can do some crazy things. Even knowing what the trick is, the illusion still holds. I know the balls are going down, but they look like they're going up.

    I think the people who are saying "magnet" are falling into the suggestion trap in the title. You read "magnet," see what appears to be a magnet trick, and then even when you see the proof that it's a perspective illusion, you can't get "magnet" out of your head. I mean, watch carefully on the timing; why would some of the slopes consistently be faster than the others if it was a magnet?

    Reminds me of Magnetic Hill in New Brunswick, just outside of Moncton. Same principle: the surrounding topography and treelines make you think you're at the top of the hill when you're really at the bottom. You drive 'down,' put your car in neutral, and it goes back 'up' the hill in reverse. Pretty cool, but it's a tourist trap.

    It seems the same concept is being used around auto racing circuits (possibly others). When a cameras vantage point around the course could distort the sponsorship logos, they print them in such a way as to make it appear the image is facing the camera directly. Some amazing sidewalk arists do it to.

    first you would build what u want to happen. then you pick an angle and manipulate physically what u want it to only look like from that angle.....one way, drawing on paper, a flat image can help understand what u should duplicate from one angle to make it appear that way because it will show u what shadows and what distances and shorts and longs should appear

    @WongRayChina No, its not a 3D simulation, the shadows react exactly how you would expect they should if the board itself was rotated. Think about it, whats easyer to do, rotate the camera around the board flawlessly or simply put the board on something and rotate it from under a table?

    @anilsingh43 Did you pay attention in High School Science? It's just a matter of perspective. The camera is set to the side while the tracks are bent so that when they are viewed on a 2D camera display, the tracks look as if they are rolling up, while in reality, they are bent down toward the middle.

    Ok, Ive found a way to beat these thing. All you have to do is watch the speed at which objects roll "up" the hill. Assuming constant friction you can tell if the distance is shorter then it seems. Of course you can also watch your object roll up the hill and gather that stuff is going to shit from that.

    @sfmw09 Perspective. Your brain interprets what you see, rather than just showing you exactly what is there. Some of the supports are slanted so they look long, and some of the ramps are shorter than others, so that the brain seeing shorter ramps and longer support in the middle says "Hey, that's four equal-length ramps, and they're going up."

  • @balloonsballoon
    @balloonsballoon14 жыл бұрын

    it's "magic", nor is it "magnetism", folks. Take a look from 0:29 - 0:32. Watch it a few times. You can see how the creator has cleverly arranged the angle and shape of the ramps to make it look like it's tilting up, when really it's tilting down.

  • @Bayowolf1
    @Bayowolf114 жыл бұрын

    Here's a mindblowing thought- What if the one angle that shows the balls rolling down the ramps is the optical illusion? Then the 90% of the witnesses who saw the balls being drawn up the slope would be the ones who saw it as it truly was, It would be awesome (and a little freaky) if the designer of this illusion came out and said that the downward sloping ramps was the illusion.

  • @Mungle84884
    @Mungle8488414 жыл бұрын

    @AAAIdEnTiTy Then can you explain why the balls "rolled uphill" if the middle part dropped at :34? No, you can't. It's an illusion. At the beginning, the middle pillar leans away from the camera, that creates the illusion it's longer than it actually is. Which explains why when the camera moves behind it at :38 everything appears the way it ACTUALLY is. The video isn't fake at all.

    I went to a place I think in South Dakota that was called Cosmos. It's a house of illusions because it is built on a mountain. And their was a trick just like this but it wasn't several paths it was a wooden bar that was clearly shown going up hill. And it was nailed to the side of the house. You could physically touch it to see it was up. Yet water ran up it and fell off the top. And I have no idea how that worked XD
