Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I'm excited to finally share the news that I will be one of the first people in the USA to import a TVR Cerbera! In this update, I discuss the import methods and options, but I also share the dates for when I hope to pick up my TVR Cerbera from the port in Los Angeles and video of it getting picked up in the UK.

The most fun aspect of having a Cerbera in Canada, is taking it to car meets. It always attracts a crowd and people just love it. It’s a very quirky car, so talking people through things like the mid/front engine layout, or how to open the doors, or the whacky dash, is always so much fun. Something as mundane as getting gas, almost always becomes an event in of itself - not least because people wonder why I’m pumping gas into my trunk ;-) but mostly because they just walk over and want to ask about the strange car they’ve never seen before. When I tell them it’s 20 years old, they’re very confused, they always thing it’s a new model. When the engine is hot, fuel atomizes in the throttle bodies and so it needs a heavy prod of the throttle to get it to start - the ensuing thunder brings a smile to most peoples faces. 2 years ago i parked it next to a then-new C8 corvette at my local Costco. All the tire centre folks came out to see the pair of interesting cars, and to my surprise, the Cerb got the vote.

Congrats on the Cerbera - I've been looking on and off for a while but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Your car has all the right things going for it and I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely! I respect your choice to use a container, but I wanted to share my experience.... I've imported quite a few cars from the UK, including 5 TVRs, all using Ro-Ro. The big boys such as Rolls, Bentley, Aston, JLR, McLaren, all ship on the same Ro-Ro vessels. They have dedicated docks so don't have to queue up to get unloaded. I had one TVR that wouldn't start in Southampton, so a quick call agreeing to a $200 tow surcharge took care of that. They tow disabled vehicles using a tugger and straps, nothing scary like a forklift. Insurance is available and highly recommended for the unthinkable. Maritime laws are pretty strange so if the ship sinks you are on the hook for your portion of the vessel as well as losing your car!

I'm really excited 😊 thanks! You're correct in that big companies use RO-RO to transport around the world, because they want the cheapest way possible. I know many folks who have used RO-RO successfully, but for my peace of mind, it was worth the extra cost 😀

Aaron congrats in finally getting your Cerb. I know, you know what you are getting yourself into with this car. I've had a Cerbera since 2006 and they are chosen by people who willingly dare to go against the safe choice. When it is at its best, it is soooo good you can forgive it for being a shitty good for nothing bastard when its not. I salute your decision to go for it and it looks like you've got a good car. Although, true to form, it will kick you hard in the wallet at some point.

My hope is to one day visit the UK and hit a shop that regularly repairs Cerberas, so I can do the work myself, here in the USA, when something happens. I've turned wrenches on mall my cars so I'm not afraid to get my hand dirty, but I also like knowing all that I can about the engines, so I don't make life more difficult than I already have with no parts in the USA lol

I’ve been looking at Cerberas for quite a few years but thinking that I’ll continue to wait for a Mark II and possibly spring for a Red Rose. Congrats on yours. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Was that the actual car in the beginning of the video ? You found a great color. Is that like a deep black cherry? Looking forward to the next video.

Hi Aaron, I’ve been waiting for the 25 year window to import a TVR Tuscan and am VERY curious about final ‘extra’ costs on top of your cerebra purchase price (total shipping, customs, any extra fees, etc). Look forward to hearing back!

Plan on having about $10k in additional expenses beyond the price of the car. That's a good starting point. Shipping costs vary depending on who and how, and how far. Registration, taxes and fees also vary depending on the sale price of the car.

Awesome car, I’m looking at getting one myself. Seeing as you just went through the process, about how long from purchase to pickup did it take?

Buying was easy. Shopping sight unseen, took a couple years to find the right one, and shipping was about a month.

Everyone said the same thing about my rotary sports cars. Just gotta be anal with maintenance and upkeep... which I am 😉. Don't get me wrong, I plan on always having a tool bag with me when I drive it 😉

That’s right Jay, terrible cars, you definitely don’t want one. (Keeps the prices nice and low for those of us who know what they’re really like)
