We had a 18 hour power outage so it was a good time to see what my power banks in use could and couldn't do. A real eye opener.

I store at 70-80% charge unless a storm is coming, then I top it off.

Though I haven't completed this yet, there is a kit (blanking on the company name) -- or if you have the knowledge to make your own (which I don't, with confidence) -- that you can use with a wooden crate to make a larger EMP faraday box. I have a 3'x3' crate that will hold 2-3 of my smaller units inside + a couple smaller folding solar panels (60-100W) + cables, I just need to buy said kit and install on the crate.

Glad I could help. I just checked the shielding kit price again this morning (it's on Amazon as well as the company's website), it isn't cheap but then again, neither were my 3 smaller solar generators so I guess it's an insurance policy of sorts. Hope you have a great weekend as well!

Funny…I just had mine out today to do the very things you just mentioned. Everything worked perfectly.

For storage I use one of those plastic bags that bed sets come in it is zippered not air tight but dust really doesn't get into it. I do the same for our big blender that we only use occasionally.

Just had mine out last weekend to see if it would run my CPAP. It did, but only for about 6 hours. Good to know!

It's useful to know about the 70% of charge for storage, which I guess means I would need a device to be about 30% bigger output than my needs so I have enough in shtf scenario. I recently bought the ecoflow delta 2 which might be too small.

Thanks for promoting people to action. I would really like to learn how to charge a solar generator from a gasoline powered generator. I thought I could just plug it into the gas generator using the charge cord provided with the solar generator, but I've since heard that I shouldn't do that. I can't imagine I'm the only one with this question. Would you consider doing a video on ways to charge solar generators and actually show the setups. People sometimes talk in generalities, but they don't show it.

Test & Practice your emergency kits! Some years ago I got my very first power station to run my CPAP on camping trips that were 3-5 days overnight there I wouldn’t be driving to recharge. This was when solar panels cost a zillion times more than they do now, and the power stations were big & expensive. Ordered what I thought would work to power. 5+ nights. Wrong! Trying it out I only got 2.3 nights. However, I made a point of ordering it from the Prime part of that company named after a big river in South America because there were free returns with within 30 days, so back it went. Then I got one that runs between 4-6 nights depending on how long I slept each night. Also, I justified the expense for a camping gizmo because I knew I would/ could use it in a prolonged power outage. That didn’t end my testing or practice. I tried several 12v appliances on it, like my electric kettle to heat water for coffee, tea, oatmeal, soup, ramen noodles… however, to this day I only use that power station for my CPAP. Later on I saved up & got a Jackery 290 on sale as a power station to run those 12v appliances, the internet router, or other miscellaneous gizmos. Then I save up to get a 60w folding solar panel to recharge the 290, and it also had USB to recharge phones, power bricks, fans, radios, etc. I still use that 60w panel because it has grommets to strap it to the railing outside my apt window. And I have a 120w panel rooftop on my minivan camper. Oh, we are looking at upgrading the 290 to something over 1000. Practice: I think 🤔 we are planning to practice recharging our headlamp & emergency radio on the holiday Monday. Then neighbors are going to practice using their FRS/GMRS radios by calling in their results at a set time on a set channel. So two kinds of practice in the ‘hood.

Hello. What is the efficacy of these solar generators vs. a more expensive one for the entire house?

Thank you. I have a question. I have one unit. I did use it on a limited basis. With the threats of nuclear HEMPS are the units susceptible to an EMP pulse (and clearly has an inverter)? I did a double wrap of the two boxes in foil for a makeshift Faraday Cage. Was a lot of work -- not really easy to take in and out. Was the wrapping up necessary?

@@martinj2843 My unit is too big for the garbage can. I still have those contents in the garbage can wrapped in aluminum -- to be as certain as possible. A Jackery 1000 is not so small. The solar panels should, in theory, be safe.

I've got about 8 cases of bottled water I've stored for maybe 13 months. Are they still safe to drink? Also bought several smaller water containers that I can lift. How is best way to clean them? Thanks so much

I have been trying to get a fallout shelter build for the past year, hopefully, it will be done soon; unfortunately, it is starting to resemble the big dig in Boston. I am not sure what the temperature will be in the shelter, but the outside temperature is in the teens in the winter and can get up to say 90 in the summer. I would assume the temperature should stay fairly constant and relatively cool. Any thoughts on how my goal zero should preform in this environment?

depending on what brand, it may be possible to recycle/trade in back to the company. But if you cannot afford a new one on trade in, you need to figure out if it's the battery that is dead or if it's some hardware component that needs to be fixed. good luck.

Question: To protect the solar panel from an EMP, can I wrap 4 layers of aluminum foil around the solar panel box? I've been living off grid for 9+ years and I want to point out that a complete solar system can be built that will put out almost twice the power of those power stations, for nearly the same price. You get what you pay for...

I bought a AC200 MAX and an extra battery this summer and still haven't used it. I'm still a bit hesitant to use it. Even though it's supposed to be very safe you see so many videos of lithium batteries exploding and this is inside my house so I'm a bit nervous. But after watching this video I'm going to make a big effort tomorrow to try it out heavy duty for the first time. Especially since I'm stuck in a house here with the first time getting this covid bug.

You may already know this, but the Bluetti AC200Max utilizes a Lifepo4 type lithium battery. This type of lithium battery is supposed to be much safer than lithium ion type batteries.

All good points, except 12 V car chargers and solar panels are not gonna cut it! Unless you have a massive array. Those only will work if you’re a minimus. You best have an inverter wired to your car or one that you can hook to your car battery that way you can charge it with AC power in a short time.

I have purchased two Jackerys, a 3000 and a 1000. Both came with solar panels of different strengths 100W and 200W. Are they interchangeable?

Since it's the same brand, the panels should be compatible with your solar gens, checking the specifications of the solar panel on their site, it says the 200w Solar Sage panel is compatible with the Explorer 1000

Glad you call them power stations, not generators. These are not generators like a gasoline generator. The station has to be filled by something, solar, gasoline, grid power. Best way to "fill these stations up" is a generator. Can't beat a gasoline or propane powered generator for reliable top quality power. These power stations run out of power very quickly.

New china made generators provide really dirty/noisy power... how well do these power supplies handle charging from dirty sources?

you can try and do a budget DIY kit. The simplest is buying a Licitti battery box. It has all the inverter and charge controller components you need. And since battery prices have come down, you can get a decent budget friendly battery to install into the box, hook the cables up and you have a budget solar generator! Far cheaper than the fancier name brands of solar gens. 😊

I got my eco flow. A really nice one through QVC and I got a Q card and I'm only paying $45 a month on it. I knew that I had to find a way to get one I actually got two.
