Implicit Bias Defined

Implicit biases are attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner.
We all have them. They encompass both favorable and unfavorable assessments that are activated involuntarily without an individual’s awareness.
These biases are not accessible through introspection and lead to feelings and attitudes about other people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, and appearance.
Implicit biases develop over a lifetime beginning at a very early age through exposure to direct and indirect messages.

Good afternoon. Would it be possible to use this video as an intro to a Diversity and Inclusivity training module at the RCMP in Canada?

Why would you? There is no literature that backs this theory up. The study was debunked

@Car Bus It's a short comment, not an essay. Yes, there are multiple studies done on the IAT by the same Washington university researcher and his collaborators and other researchers (who showed that there is very little correlation to back up the IAT). The rest are derivative studies where researchers attempt the find implicit bias without utilizing the IAT itself.

It is pretty funny that people come to a video to get educated, to say that they do not agree on something that is factually true, and people come to the comments and see this. This is what keeps the uneducated uneducated.@@chrisjuricichxl5

@@radlad5447it is completely biased to determine the reason for other people watching a video. I am a clinical psychologist who watches Pop sci videos on my area of expertise to determine their quality and overall effect upon the public.

How is it bias? Is it because that you do not agree with it because of your implicit bias from the media, people, and also half-ass research that you've been doing?

The flimsy theory of implicit bias summed up: Racial intolerance of blacks is (and I agree) something that should be countered. Racial intolerance of whites, white-passing, light-skinned and lighter-skinned people of non-African descent, white-adjacent and the "melanin deficient" is to be encouraged to counter "white privilege". That is also what social justice is about.

micro aggressions are nonsense and I question the assumption that white supremacy is as prevalent a 'thing' as some have posited.

Our teachers are such a wonderful resource and so incredibly valuable, but NEA has so many terrible liberal ideas and support such a horrible president, they are making lives for our teachers way more difficult than they should be! NEA needs to support teachers, not have blanket support of liberal ideas that make our teachers’ jobs and lives so much more difficult!
