Imperial Honey Strawberry Kölsch - Tasting
I planned on brewing a Honey Strawberry Kölsch but got carried away and brewed an Imperial Honey Strawberry Kölsch. It came out amazing, and I will have the taste-testing video out very soon.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to have to try brewing a Kolsch with fruit. Cheers!

Sankara, I swore I replied but YT is saying I missed this one. There are certain styles that I'm not a huge fan of yet (I say yet as I wasn't a big fan of plain lagers until I started brewing them myself) such as Kolsch and Saison when they are very plain. Either some really nice late additions like Saaz hops, a specialty grain, or fruit seem to really work well in these styles. The only issue with fruit is you really need to add some wheat or with this brew, Oats to help carry the flavor on your tongue to avoid having to add a ton of fruit just to get the flavor across.

I am not a fruit, spice, adjunct guy in my beer. I'm of the belief that beer is water, grain, hops and Yeast. Believe I've tried several fruity, spicy things in beer. And can't get past one glass. But every one has thier own pallet. Now I have brewed Milk Stouts and can handle that. Where others hate the sweetness.

I can relate as I dislike the majority of sweet beers but a nice Milk Stout from time to time is nice, even if lactose hates me. I love experimenting and fruit and/or spices just add another layer of complexity for me where I have to find the right beer style and create the best possible recipe to complement the additions not normally found in a traditional beer. Wheat is my go to for most fruit as it helps to carry the flavors but here I tried something new with the oats.

You certainly have a strange pallette. You would like a local brewery we have here called Martin House. Right now they have a Mayonnaise beer and an Elotes beer on tap 🤮

I do like Mexican street corn aka Elotes (from what I looked up) but as a beer that would be strange and the Mayonnaise might be a bit too much for me but of course I'd try it. I've had my fair share of strange tasting beers with a handful made by my own hand. We have a rule in my house, "You must try everything once, but you don't have to eat (drink) anything you don't like." I love a ton of exotic foods and odd combinations of foods (My wife finds gross) but there are a handful I can't stand like peas which smell as bad as they taste. One of our local breweries once had a red ale that smelled and tasted like Cherry Luden's Cough Drops...it was neat to try but gross to drink more than a sip.
