    Hey I'm gonna be starting Chemistry as a 1st year next month, very excited! Just wanted to ask, how much and what kind of physics do you learn in the course? Also, which ancillary module did you take and how did you find it in comparison to the core modules?

  • @theethanexperience6097

    @theethanexperience6097

    3 жыл бұрын

    I didn't really need any physics to be honest. I have only taken the basic physics course in high school and I was fine. The only thing you need is probably wavelength and frequency equation which will be used heavily in spectroscopy.

  • @theethanexperience6097

    @theethanexperience6097

    I took medicinal chemistry instead of maths and physics. Medicinal chem was my worst module, I really didn't enjoy the content. I would recommend doing something else in the horizon course for your ancillary, such as language, business or philosophy. However, if you're interested in the ancillary chemistry modules then you should try them!

    It wasn’t very interesting, a lot of bio and i think it would have been better to take an easier course to reduce my workload. A lot of ppl who took M&P have taken physics and maths A levels so i think it was generally fine. Didn’t hear much complaint, the grade distribution was a lot better than med chem.

    Hey Adam! Congrats man! Well my tips are definitely try to meet new ppl and just have fun. However, you still need to find time to study. I did the American highschool system which is easier than A levels and i spent about 3-5 hrs a day studying the first term. If you did A levels you’ll definitely be fine. You’ll get an average of 2-4 hrs of lecture a day so be prepared to spend an extra 30-60 min to absorb your materials.

    Hey, thanks for this video. I am from latinamerica and i really don't know what means A-levels. I am still in high school, i graduate of school next year and i want to apply to Imperial, un Chemistry degree. I search and there are like two types somenthing like Bsc? And MsC? (Sorry If write it wrong, My English is not good). It will very helpful for me if You reaply this message. I have more questions anyway... Also, which type of grades i need to apply? The stuff of A-levels. I am thinking on traveling to UK mostly for July,to search that university and other one which is the UEA thats on Norwich, maybe You can tell me anything else i can do when i arrive there. Thanks a lot for reading this and sorry If it's too much (I am 16, on July also i will be 17)

    So you will be applying to BSc which is a bachelor degree when you apply after highschool. You need to check what grades your school is using and if imperial accepts that grade. I don’t know what grading system you’re doing right now so I can’t answer that. Traveling will be harder right now due to covid but I would suggest just walk around the schools that you are interested in. In addition, there are english exams that you’ll have to take like IELTS and TOEFL to get in, so you might want to study English as well before you apply. An adequate english level is crucial to your studies in university.

    A-Levels are the exams taken by most 18-year-olds in the U.K. before they finish high school. They determine whether you get into certain universities or not. Most people taken 3 subjects whilst some do 4 and they are measured using the grading system A*-U (A* being the highest grade you can achieve)

    How seriously does Imperial take extenuating circumstances? For my predicted grades, I'm one grade off the minimum requirement for electrical engineering, but I had mental health issues in year 12 which meant I didn't do as well as I hoped. Does Imperial care about extenuating circumstances at all? Could I still potentially get an interview, give that the course isn't that competitive and the rest of my application is good? Thanks!

    Hey Rodin, Im sorry to hear that you had mental health issues that you had to deal with which resulted in a score you didn’t want. Unfortunately, Im afraid this isn’t a question I can answer for you. Only admission will know and I believe you will have to email imperial yourself. However, If you have mental health issues you might be able to apply with disabilities, which will put you in a different category when applying? Im not 100% sure. I hope this helps and good luck with the rest of your application!!
