The Kaiserhymne was the imperial anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The hymn was originally "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" and written as a personal anthem to Emperor Francis II of the Holy Roman Empire, and later of the Austrian Empire. The lyrics were written by Lorenz Leopold Haschka and the melody by Joseph Haydn in 1797. In 1854, the anthem got new lyrics, which were used until the end of the Empire in 1918. The anthem has the same melody as the German national anthem "Deutschlandlied", written in 1841.
MAGYAR: A volt osztrák császári himnusz (kezdőszavai alapján a Gott erhalte) többféle szöveggel az Osztrák Császárság állami himnusza volt a 19. század elejétől az Osztrák-Magyar Monarchia 1918-as megszűntéig. Az első szövegváltozat Lorenz Leopold Haschka (1749-1827) 1791-es szerzeménye, a frissiben trónra lépett Ferenc császárt köszöntötte akkor még Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser kezdettel. Nyilvánosan először 1797-ben énekelték, zenéjét pedig igazi nagyság, maga Joseph Haydn komponálta nyugat-magyarországi horvát népdalmotívumok felhasználásával. Jelenleg Németország himnuszának ez a dallama.
DEUTSCH: Die Österreichischen Kaiserhymnen, auch Volkshymnen genannt, waren ab 1797 Hymnen des Hauses Österreich und von 1826 bis 1918 die offiziellen Kaiserhymnen des Kaisertums Österreich, das seit 1867 die Länder der ungarischen Krone nicht mehr umfasste (Österreich-Ungarn). Die Hymnen lauteten stets auf die vom österreichischen Komponisten Joseph Haydn im Auftrag von Kaiser Franz II. komponierte Melodie. In der Habsburgermonarchie gab es keine National- oder Landeshymnen einzelner Kronländer. Vielmehr wurde der Text der Kaiserhymne dem jeweils amtierenden Kaiser gewidmet, so dass sich der Text bei jedem Thronwechsel änderte. Auf die Melodie der früheren österreichischen Kaiserhymne wird auch das 1841 von August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben gedichtete Lied der Deutschen gesungen, dessen dritte Strophe heute die deutsche Nationalhymne ist.

Celui-ci s’étant prononcé en 1804 en plus François I, empereur héréditaire d’Autriche, l’hymne resta après son abdication de la couronne du Saint-Empire romain en 1806, à part quelques modifications du texte pour accommoder les deux premiers de ses trois successeurs sur le trône d’Autriche, l'hymne dynastique et impérial de la monarchie autrichienne impériale jusqu’en 1918. La désignation Gott! erhalte reprend les premiers mots, communs à toutes les versions du texte en dépit des modifications successives. En 1841, sur l’île d’Héligoland, à l’époque britannique, un certain Heinrich Hoffmann, natif de Fallersleben, renversa la technique d’origine en composant le Deutschlandlied, poème patriotique allemand dont le troisième couplet est l'actuel hymne national de la République fédérale d'Allemagne.

This anthem is incredible. There is a Hungarian version called "Szent Királyunk" with different lyrics. But the music alone is majestic, no matter the language.

Azért mert ő volt az utolsó magyar király :) csak az antant nem engedte a trónra lépését különben szét tépték volna még jobban a országunkat . Ottónak ez után még kettő kisérlete volt a trón megszerzésére .

We, Belgians, were part of it from 1713 to 1795 (and even before since Charles V but it was After 1555 the Spanish Habsbourg). We even have Maria-theresa straat in Ostende or Louvain, and an avenue Joseph II in Brussels! The Royal Academy of Sciences in Belgium was established by Maria-Theresa. Her portrait still hangs at the entrance.

There is! There's a version for almost every language spoken in the Empire, from Polish to Romanian, and even Croatian!

@@tedvillalon4139 Didn't not know about that because most American school books only talk about the Battles around Richmond,VA region 1861-1865. Had the civil war and Mexico war went into 1866-1867 Maximilian's forces would have given Chassepot bolt action rifles to the Confederacy

@@ItsRufus99 Sometime i wonder if the Hasburg accepted the Hungarian independence but still as an ally with Austria by offering one of it family on the throne and crown Hungary. If so who would be the candidate. Seem to be at least the Hungarian was willing to accept another Hasburg as their king. So that the Austrian could be with other Germans state and created a balance in central Europe. Leaving every German states with Prussia is not a great ideal.

I recently reffed a volleyball tournament and I was singing quietly to anthems of only three teams: - Czechs, because I'm Czech - Dutch, because they have the best anthem in the world - Germans, but I was always singing either the Czech or German lyrics, but to the Austro-Hungarian anthem. 🙂

This is so amazing, its peaceful, the music is great, its crazy that they didn't do much in the first world war, not that aggressive to the allies and lost 70% of the territory. Also can you do a Ukrainian version of Imperial Anthem of Austria-Hungary please?

The Austro-Hungarian Empire's anthem had to be translated to almost 30 different languages due to the diversity of people living there. This caused a poor sense of patriotism and further lowered the effectiveness of the Empire in WW1. Nice Video, keep it up!

@@BaronvonCircasian8563 this is true but tbh it wasn't as big of a reason for its fall as it's hyped up to be, the overall stresses of war broke apart what was overall a relatively stable empire, I remember reading this one piece by an American shortly after the declaration of war in 1914, and the overall idea was that even in 1914 the fall of Austria-Hungary was far from anyone's minds given how it had functioned previously.

There is an Italian, Czech, Croatian, and Polish version on KZread. It’s from the video “Austrian Empire anthem in 5 languages.” The Austrian Empire anthem is the same as the Austro-Hungarian Empire Anthem.

In the Kingdom of Hungary, the playing of the imperial anthem caused an outcry on virtually every occasion. With this text, about nobody sang it. The imperial anthem was never or rarely played except on royal visits. Gyula Bulyovszky, who translated the text into Hungarian, only dared to publish it under a pseudonym. It was taught in schools, but it was essentially dangerous to sing it outside the official community, because it was met with a slap on the wrist from the common people. During the second phase of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the Habsburg monarchy had some popularity in Hungary, but the Austrian anthem did not fit in with the memory of the defeated revolution of '48-49.
