learning a lot from this video! Imagine if Pyrrhus had united his nation with Macedon and had their resources before invading Italy. I wonder if it would have been enough to turn the tide in the war.

I also just got back into playing Imperator and its been very enjoyable Invictus has come a long way although I do wish they would incorporate an extended timeline and the rise of Christianity in antiquity.

Dude the history you gave in the beginning amplifies the enjoyment I get from grand strategy games by like 10x. Such a cool detail that Hannibal counted him among the best generals of the time I would’ve never guessed. Thanks for this series look forward to more!

Hannibal may have mentioned him simply because before Hannibal phyrrus was the greatest enemy of Rome

Man what a coincidence. I’m in the middle of an Epirus run. It’s pretty much impossible to invade Italy unless Rome expands north first, which happened for me, after a couple of restarts. I was ultimately able to defeat them but it was rough And now I gotta attack a huge Carthage blob 😅

6:03 Actually glad for the pronunciation of Macedonia as Makedonia. Even in their language (which is of course not Hellenic or Greek but rather Slavic) is pronounced with K rather than C (Македонија) and in Greek (Μακεδόνια)

Just found your channel through this series. I love true immersive roleplay Grand Strategy series. Already watching through your CK3 Angevins series as well. Loving your content. Hope to see more from you going forward. It is hard to find people who aren't trying to min max their way through a Paradox Grand Strategy game and also make content for it. Losing is sometimes the most fun outcome in these games.

You're discounting the quality of troops Pyrrhus faced compared to Alexander. Pyrrhus faced quality troops of Greek, Italic and Punic all of which are known to defeat the types of troops the persians/parthians fielded. Alexander was much more successful due to the love of his troops and the quality of his troops as well as his strategic brilliance. There's a very strong argument as to why Pyrrhus was placed second in Hannibals esteem.

are there any mods you would suggest? You are absolutely right about the hard K pronunciation of C. My understanding is that there was no soft C sound in ancient Greek. (according to my copy of the Iliad). Doh you mention the Invictus mod in the presentation, LoL I note that the time scale here is a couple hundred years after Herodotus, which I mention because I am busily reading it.

hah when you gave a macedon trigger warning i braced myself for you to pronounce with an s the whole campaign only for you to say five seconds later that you would be pronouncing it correctly to begin with. (also there's no soft c in greek so the modern ones are pronounced that way as well.)
