Immune thrombocytopenia is an autoimmune bleeding disorder which abnormally lowers the blood cells of the body majorly platelets, a situation also termed as thrombocytopenia. Platelets help to stop the bleeding and play a major role in blood clotting.
An average platelet count ranges from 150,000 to 400,000 per microliter approximately. A person with platelet counts less than 100,000 per micro.
