Immortal was so competitive, I remember one time being outside of a battle event freestylin with poison pen, my guy J-Hon and a few others and he walked up and started spittin right after me but wild aggressive, and you knew he was trying to embarrass me and let it be known he had bars for days! I honestly miss the "freestyle" battle era more. To me, there is something really special about mentally creating a witty, spur of the moment punchline to outthink your opponent. Not knowing who you're going to battle but still being ready for lyrical combat, to me, there's a certain level of respect that goes with that. The written battle era was an interesting transition in the late 2000s and even in the 2010s, but I'm getting tired of it. The rounds were getting too long, and as much as one can critique freestyle battlers for being repetitive, having too many fillers, (etc), I think that with these 3 ,4, 5 minute or unlimited rounds, it's hard to keep me interested for that long because there's a lot of filler in there as well. Most of all, many of these written leagues are not even judged battles, so nothing is really at stake anymore.

These battle rap leagues became trash when battles were announced ahead of time and rappers had time to research their opponent. Battles are far better off the top

I was at that battle... I remember clearly who Tech was battling. Lmao... still got the video. For the sake of the person he battled I won't share it though... (embarrassing as hell) The emcee was so pissed, he forfeited in the second round.

Its interesting how IMMORTAL knows and understands that word derives from a bad place BUT still uses it with all the knowledge he has.
