part 2 as we diagnose this 2002 Vw Beetle with immobilizer problem. Has engine code P1570 engine start blocked by immobilizer, and a instrument cluster code number 01128 immobilizer pick up coil, and 01176 Key signal too low.

Excellent video on how the immob system works. It's quite surprising that the original coil ohm-checked OK but still didn't work. That probably would have had me chasing my tail for a long time.

Big benefit of having a parts car to shot gun a part on there to see. But once I saw there was voltage on the wires indicating continuity to the cluster I was fairly confidant.

Nice video. You could ziptie "new barrel with coil and key connected" somewhere in the car's steering column so customer can use old key and barrel if he find door lock :). No chance that someone will steal this pile of junk.

Appreciate the video. I have a 07 gti mk5. immobilizer active some days so it is not reliable at this point. Trying to decide if i should send my ecu out for a immo delete or tow it to vw for a new coil/ignition and new key chip.

Do you have a spare key? Does the problem happen with the spare key? If you do not have a spare key then have one made as you need one anyway.

@@CoolAirVw Yah both keys just starts and dies. I don't have them in the car at the same time as i read that could cause it.
i mist part two just seen it .question can you put those rf dectector led to coil to see if it sending on those vw

I have no experience with those.
I have a 99.5 Jetta that had an immobilizer problem in the drivers door. Had to disconnect the battery, discharge the system (short the pos and neg terminals together) turn ignition to on and reconnect the battery. This system left me stranded. I will be sending off a spare ECU to have the immobilizer deleted!

@@CoolAirVw ALH 1.9l Tdi. Engine wouldn't even crank and alarm kept going off when I tried to start it. Apparently it wont disarm the system at the door lock. This model does not have the ignition immob.

@@cal82252 Thats what I thought. 99.5 has no immo to delete. Your wanting to delete the alarm, not the immo. It probably would be easier to fix the problem then you would still have all functions.

I use VCDS as a diagnostic tool and identifix as tech info. identifix has a monthly fee.

it can be made useable again. toughest problem on it we fixed in these videos. the rest is just labor. Customer is gonna fix it up himself.
