Staring down into the gates of hell
Holding on until the bitter end
Do you hear the siren call of death
This is the deep and dying breath
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
This is the end of everything
As I watch my world burn
The sweet sound of death’s release
It’s the call of the void
As the sky is falling down
A crimson veil upon an empty crown
I feel the end is coming
I’m so sick of running
This is the end of everything
Rage against the dying of the light
Rage, rage
This is the end of everything
As I watch my world burn
The sweet sound of death’s release
It’s the call of the void
The call of the void
The call of the void
Consumed by the dark
It tears me apart
It pulls me in
It pulls me in
It calls to my soul
I feel so cold
It pulls me in
It pulls me in
It pulls me in
This is the end of everything
As I watch my world burn
The sweet sound of death’s release
It’s the call of the void
Rage
The call of the void
Rage, rage

I love the inflection so much in Eddie's voice along with the syllable's rhythms. Also the way he pronounces "burn" is so satisfying in a way. I'm not sure what the word is. And that scream after "It pulls me in" just wow. Y'all kept really awesome songs for the album release 🔥🔥 Thank you so so much for all of these masterpieces!!! I'm not sure where to say this because it really is in regards to all of your songs but they help me process trauma, emotions, and existential angst a lot and I've cried so many times in a cathartic and healing way to so many of your songs. Really, thank you.

songs are good but getting pretty indulgent here at this point from a lyrical standpoint. if you dont want to be swallowed by the dark, why don't you make it even heavier, and bring the light... my guess is the next song will be about death calling and letting yourself get taken in lol. making it way too hard to get into the songs. the catharsis should be on point and instead its lacking.

Being indulgent, feeling it, and seeing what it does/doesn't do for you is how you learn to heathily relate to indulgence (or any experience/emotion/action/thought). One interpretation of the song is that it's about being human and being at odds with our impermanence. Life is too short to hold back. It's too short to not express oneself and be authentic. Shoot the second arrow if you need to to see what it does. You deserve to feel all of your feelings and process them how you need (including if that means being indulgent). Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Wishing you the best!

  • @GaianSon77

    @GaianSon77

@@projectpiano5231 respect your reply and I hear where you're coming from, but that only sounds reasonable in contrast to self-loathing// self-repression. The answer to self-repression, however, is not to be indulgent to the point of needing to experience your own indulgence. I think if you consider it again without bias, you'll be forced to admit this is a but still decision. Being impulsive is not being sincere. Being sincere is having the self-worth to be willing to see clearly and admit what the real options are. A real option is accepting and feeling what you do to yourself the first time. You don't need to keep prolonging the cycle of negative experience. Your revelation could come at any time, it's up to each of us how long that takes. Taking longer is being more indulgent. It happens :), to me all the time, but it's definitely being indulgent and to make it seem like we're doing the right thing to feel it again and again is not a just perspective, even if it starts from an empathetic place that realizes self-repression is in many cases the worst choice.

  • @projectpiano5231

    @projectpiano5231

I like that perspective. "It's up to each of us how long that takes." I agree, and I also think that how long it takes [at least for me] is dependent on how long we pressure ourselves to do something (e.g. acceptance and feeling for me feels like an action one takes and not an experience). I find that taking pressure off generally helps me. I think I've mostly been on the "doing" side rather than "being"/"feeling" side and what I interpret as truly letting go (and not an action that I'm doing to attempt to mimic it) so that may be why I felt the need to say that it's ok to indulge etc. for myself and for any others who have had the same or similar issues/experience as me. I may've also interpreted your initial message in a more judgmental way than it was meant. I mostly agree with "Being sincere is having the self-worth to be willing to see clearly and admit what the real options are" and also want to say that I think it's important to recognize that what actions we take and thoughts we have are heavily influenced by chemicals and connections in our brain and so I think we should take care when we try to get ourselves to make positive changes in actions and thoughts. We may not get it the first time and really we may never get it. It doesn't mean give up, it just means letting go of worrying that one is doing self-repression, self-loathing may do good for oneself. I think there may be a visibility bias in what letting go like that may do because we only really see the bad cases/where that train of thought makes one's negative experience/thoughts/feelings persist. And when we're in that state the negative is all we see too. For me, the most healing moments have been where I stopped trying to make positive changes in a certain way and cried about the unmet expectations/desires/needs that I had. I'm not sure what Eddie's and other band member's experiences are but I think that that may be part of what they're expressing with or without realizing every aspect of it because the experience is real and because of that they don't have to cognitively understand, and experiencing and sharing the experience can be healing for themselves and for others. I'd argue that our limitations are a part of who we are and giving in to the repression is a way of holding on to who we are and being authentic which can then break us out of its chains. It's definitely understandable if the lyrics don't personally resonate though. I do have some concerns about messages that the original comment can imply and that it may reinforce toxic shame and repression that someone may have. I'm also curious what specifically you found self-indulgent in their lyrics that you may not've found/interpreted that way in other Imminence songs? In any case I think both of our messages differently emphasize the importance of different aspects of the paradox between acceptance and desire/need for change, the (imo) paradox of freewill and determinism, being as doing and not, and what it means to be conscious. (Also, not saying you disagree with any of what I said or that you agree with any of it.) Thanks for the kind and thought provoking response!

@@projectpiano5231 appreciate you dude. A little more indulgent this time around probably 1 because I listened to it front to back, 2 because just more repetitive about dark things. To branch off the chemicals argument, chemicals are obviously a very real thing in your brain, however, they are always going to -represent- or show or prove the way things are, but not necessarily -cause- except in a way of a feedback loop. With thoughts, it works in this way, like a feedback loop but with a gravitational element in the sense of whatever you choose to think about or talk about recurringly, you will sortve gravitate into one’s own headspace that kindve subject, which when dealing with heavy things in an immature way, is a very dangerous thing that makes this album more indulgent to me in the sense of not having the appropriate reverence or caution for what you’re talking about when you’re not giving yourself a way out, only playing up what you’re experiencing. Cheers for the real talk brother
