Imaging the Rosette Nebula (NGC2244) from home using N.I.N.A and my new ZWO EAF

In this video I use NINA to image the Rosette Nebula from my Backyard Observatory.

    Glad to see you are hanging out with NINA now - NINA will look after you. When you want to move to the advanced sequencer, make sure you download the templates from patriot Astro - they will make the change totally painless. Fantastic image at the end with all the nebulosity extension from the Rose. I love the look of the starless version.

    Hi Jason, I've mentioned it before, but I will say it again, Once in NINA, you'll never go back. Adding to that ... once you go into the ADVANCE SQUENCER, again, there's no going back. Isaac can surely aid you with that. (His video enticed me to jump into it). It has so much more to offer. WOW, 40 hours of data!!! Awesome final pic. Looks like you had some windy conditions there. Clear desert skies to you.

    I'm finding that is the case Pat. weather has been weird lately, clear and windy during the day and then clouds roll in at night. Very unArizona like. Something I would expect in San Diego but not here. Warmer, drier and clear skies back at ya!

    Hey Jason nicely done . I'm glad to see you are using N.I.N.A. It's my goto program of choice. I have mine set up with dark colors to preserve my night vision. Clear skies.

    Here at home I connect to it remotely in the house so I'm still using the default color scheme. I have played around with the color schemes a bit but wanna get comfortable with it. CS

    Jason, great image, love the gas you captured trailing off of the Rosette, and glad to see you dipping your toes in NINA, it's a pretty good application depending on what you are planning to do with it. CS!

    Just stopped before you reveal the finished picture. THIRTY NINE HOURS!! Are you out of your mind 🤣🤩?!! Already the details of these fine nebula-tube-like-shapes on the NINA-screens are insane! I don't have the patience (and computer) to get more than an hour, and even if I had my dslr, my mount, my dewshield or my sd-card would fail 😫😆! Still very happy with what I can capture keeping it simple. If there won't be another comment on the final image, then be sure I liked it so much that I fainted, fell of the chair, hurt my head and had to go to the emergency 😱😊

    @@AZ4Runner I did not fall off the chair 😉. But the image is stunning, stopped the video at 31.16 and just couldn't stop looking at it. Love the framing with all the nebulosity in the left upper corner. But all the details in the nebula itself are so clear to see, I get the urge to try and touch it! Great job.

    Great video and excellent image! Sooner rather than later is my suggestion on the advanced sequencer. I tried it had a disastrous night of imaging and then went back to the legacy sequencer, finally tried again a few months later and realized I had just made a few simple mistakes and now I couldn't image without it. Being able to set a start and end time for a target with multiple options to do so, the ease of scheduling multiple targets, and possibly my favorite, the center after drift, this one has saved me many times. I used to set alarms to wake me up throughout the night to check on things, since I usually have 3 rigs running at once it was pain, now I sleep through the night. I still have occasional issues, seldom are they NINA issues.

    I still set alarms and check on my stuff through out the night. I love watching the Medridian flip and autofocus sequence. I guess I still like to be part of the imaging night. CS

    I played with the EAF a bit in APT, but to be honest I probably didn't give it a fair chance. Still really like APT but wanted to push myself to use NINA, APT is great software and keeps getting better with each update.

  • @AZ4Runner

    @AZ4Runner

    TBH, I did find the Autofocus a little easier with NINA, and I'm sure that it has been improved on in the latest versions of APT. I do love the fact that APT "talks" to you keeps me company throughout the night. I had a very had time switching because I was so comfortable with APT. I do like the options for saving your files in APT better than in NINA. I also was very comfortable with the Platesolving and framing in APT. I guess I'm still torn between the two. I also prefer the APT GUI over NINA but feel like I see more in the NINA GUI. so yeah, no one specific thing just wanted to give myself more options. CS
