They compare him to others and say he scored more he has more conversion rate . They don't really understand what we really love about his free-kicks is he has a completely different style and he mastered the art of those thunderbolts he launched, People love to see those with his signature back movement after setting the ball and his deep breath. No one has such a wide range and techniques of scoring a freekick except Juninho and maybe Dinho.

His gap between the free kicks and the penalty kicks is not big. I just like his penalties more but for me he is not only the best penalty kicker but also the best free kicker. Messi technique for free kick is used by most free kick takers like Ronaldinho. Cristiano free kick is like Juninho. It's better with range and a nightmare for GK. If we talked about accuracy, messi is. However if we talked about power and movement of the ball, it's Cristiano was more impossible to block.

Too bad that chronic injury in 2014 ruined his freekick knuckleball technique: his accuracy dropped VERY NOTICEABLY since then. He STILL scores from freekicks, but he needs A LOT MORE ATTEMPTS on average to score from them.

Thank you for making this, we don’t get to appreciate how close some of these were to going in.

what I love most is his reverse curve which he hits with his inside, the ball spins wickedly which almost makes it a reverse slanted frontspin which lets him hit the ball so freely.

Welll the terms used to describe the movement of the balls are, no spin, back spin, side spin left or right, front spin and dipping shot,the the type of shot you described is also my favorite type of shot I like to see from Ronaldo , like a a rocket going forward up and then going down to the right,I play football but it's so hard to score with that techniq 😂😂

@@crisalcantara7671 I think it's a bit different from a front spin/top spin where the follow through is sudden and to the left, here it's almost like a backspin slanted to the right which makes it so that it won't have as much power as a topspin but have crazy movement. An example of this kinda shot is his goal vs Celta Vigo in the 2013 Copa del Ray

Only a ronaldo fanboy can make a compilation of terrible free kicks that cost the team key chances and claim they are a positive of a player and football. Absolute 🤡 supporters these days as a lifelong United fan. We used to hate ronaldo stepping up to free kicks because he would miss 25 and then score 1. We had scholes, giggs, Rooney to name just some with far better free kick to goal ratios yet they gave them to ronaldo to keep him happy. He actually set the record in la liga of most free kicks by a player without converting, don’t believe me then Google it. He missed so many free kicks in his career it was criminal to let him continue.

@@Legasus7 yes the terribly bad inaccurate method of free kick taking which made him never reach top 10 free kick conversion rates in any league he played in. Like I said he set the la liga record for most free kicks without converting off the top of my head it was about 56 at the time. You are not even old enough to have watch him week in week out. I was watching United since the early 90s before he arrived and the biggest flaw in ronaldo game was his free kicks and they should have never have let him take them. But he had contract stipulations about taking them. Like I said one of the worst free kick takers and conversion rates in the past 25 years especially for a high level player. And mainly down to the terrible technique he used to use.

He will be remembered as one of the greatest free kick takers ever and that's not debatable, no matter how you try to spin it. You don't score over 60+ free kicks in your career if you're a "terrible" free kick taker. His overall conversion rate isn't as good as the others on the list, but it's not awful. He's one of the most iconic free kick takers in the history of the game and he's scored over 60 of them. I'll leave it at that.

You are not old enough to have been watched him play let alone live like I have. But his free kicks still give me nightmares the amount of chances he blew for us in incredibly favourable positions to smash a knuckle ball 20 yards over the bar or into the wall and score 1 free kick a season. He did the exact same for Madrid but worse as he went 3 season for them without even scoring a free kick setting the la liga record of most free kicks without a goal due to his exceptional poor knuckle ball free kick techniques.
