This past summer, I went to Somalia for the first time to visit family. While I was there, I saw so many people who were living in horrible conditions. Some of the people I saw were so poor that they lost children from illnesses that arose from starvation. Yet these people were happy with their lives. They had imaan in their hearts and they knew that Allah promised them that after every hardship comes ease. These people are my inspiration. I have made it my mission to help the Muslims of this Ummah. In Shaa Allah I hope to make a positive impact.

Instead, seeing the suffering of others at the hands of man makes me angry. To see those who suffer at the unseen hands of nature makes me sad. I call my reaction, empathy.

what he means by this is that you will understand just how fortunate you are in life after realizing just how many poor and oppressed people there are. You should feel sad for them and try to help in any way you can. I believe that is what he was trying to say

No this is not at all what the hadeeth means. The Prophet SAW said that if you look at those who are below you, you will remain happy, -- as in YOU WILL REMAIN HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE -- because if you REALLY watch the video, you will see that it says in a hadeeth that a human being is never satisfied with what he has, until he is in the grave. So the Prophet SAW said: ''You will never be happy (as in you will never BE SATISFIED with what you have) if you look at those who have more than you, but YOU WILL be happy (WITH WHAT YOU HAVE) when you look at those who have less than you. And that is exactly what happens when you look at those less fortunate than you. When I look at those lower than me, I then become happy with what what I have I then become satisfied with everything that I have I then become grateful with what Allah has given me I then start to appreciate better the bounties that my Lord has bestowed on me. I become happy with how fortunate I am. This does not mean that you shouldn't feel sad or angry everytime you see someone going through some misfortune. But when you do see such a thing, you should feel happy and satisfied and content with what you have! This is what this statement means.
