    'convert' is a legacy command and has been superseded by 'magick', see the ImageMagick(1) man-page for a list of all the commands. 'magick' does everything 'convert' does, plus more.

    Just installed ImageMagick on a new Ubuntu machine and convert is still the command as of 2022 seems like; no magick command available.

    Thanks for the tipp. Always wanted to configure a fancy lockscreen. Did it in bspwm/sxhkd via ah keyboard shortcut running: scrot /tmp/screenshot.png; mogrify -blur 0x5 /tmp/screenshot.*; i3lock --no-unlock-indicator --image="/tmp/screenshot.png"; rm /tmp/screenshot.*

    Any plans for CLI video editing through ffmpeg?

  • @nibblrrr7124

    @nibblrrr7124

    I use a script based around this to roughly cut out parts without reencoding: ffmpeg -ss ${from} -i ${infile} -c copy -f matroska -to ${duration} - | mpv --force-seekable=yes --loop=yes 1>/dev/null Or if you want to save to a file first instead of piping: ffmpeg ... output.mkv && mpv --loop=yes output.mkv If you want frame-precise start (instead of starting at the keyframe before), you have to reencode, so e.g. just leave out '-c copy'

    Let's say that one changes their background often, and they would like to use their current background as the image that is manipulated in the lock screen. Is there a way to specify the current background image in your script?

  • @LukeSmithxyz

    @LukeSmithxyz

    6 жыл бұрын

    Sure. I always keep my current background at ~/.config/wall.png (or pick any location) and this is where my window manager looks for what to use as the bg when I start up. If you have a similar setup, you can just have the imagemagick command refer to that location. If you use some kind of DE, there's often a certain location where the background file is stored, you could just find where that is and use it in the script.

    imagemagick has `import` for taking screenshots. why not use it instead of scrot so your script could depend on less things?

  • @solitudesf8111

    yes, maim is the superior screenshot utility, but in this case he could minimize dependencies

    it would look cooler if you could animate the swirl, so it gently swirls into its swirled state... a little overkill but you might generate 5 or so images with different swirl amounts and then use convert to generate gif and then display that gif (without loop ofc)

    Is it possible to produce three different variations of colour with imagemagik using the mogrify command for every png? I'm basically trying to keep the same file name while changing the colour which I can't do if done individully as you have to specify outputname so hoping to achieve through a batch method. would appreciate the help.

    keep the same file name while changing the color three times? unclear. you'd have 3 files with the same name. can you clarify? this is probably easy if we understand what you mean.
