That buff murloc is superbly designed, what an interesting solution to certain board states that we haven't really had before. New Griftah is super cool too, I like the idea that whether you play it or it gets played against you, you both always know what the other person has, so you both are trying to out-think your opponent and out-play around their version of the amulet.

There's a lot of "maybe problematic" card in these set, that naga, windfury pirate. Though i like those location payoffs, but i could already see them being irrelevant because of those toxic decks (i.e. naga dh, handbuff pally, etc.) i could already see pirate paladin just because of that windfury pirate plus 1mana charge pirate.

That windfury pirate is a real problem. How did they not learn giving paladin acess to windfury a neutral windfury no less is a bad idea. Like that card fits in handbuff pally super well. It might as well say give southsea deckhand windfury and it would be the same

Scrapbook Student is a nod to another card called Transfer Student - This card has different effects depending which game board you're on. So the flavor text on Scrapbook student is a cool easter egg. I'd love to see Rarran making a video about refferences in flavor texts

imagine just nerfing a card last patch for paladin not to get windfury and printing a card with same cost and concept for every class to use

My opinions: - Tidepool Pupil could be 2 mana, and it would still be good. There's no reason it's printed as-is other than to push the power level. - Dread Deserter, Lamplighter, and Sailboat Captain are either useless, broken or fair, but always feel bad to play against. - Overplanner adds to the consistency problem in the game where everyone has infinite draw or it doesn't see play. - Concierge speeds the game up. Either the mana cheating is good enough and I hate it, or it's not enough and I still hate it. - Bayfin Bodyguard looks fun. Might be useless, but at least it's better design than what we've seen. - Scrapbooking Student looks good, assuming locations are balanced. If there is a problem with this card, it's with the locations in my opinion. I didn't do all of the cards, and I want to give the benefit of the doubt, but after the amount of patches in Whizbang, I'm worried how much of this next expansion was playtested.

despite how potentially broken it is, tidepool pupil is a flavor win imo, School Teacher says "Who here can spell "Zin-Azshari"? Anybody?" as its entrance, and pupil's flavor text is "Z-I-N-A-S-H-A-R-Y"

Griftah is the coolest card I've seen in a while. The draw 3 option is probably the best one since it can actively hurt your opponent. Also nice with 1-Cost spell synergy (Pip, Sonya, Lynessa).

your opponent is getting a worse version of the amulet, but your opponent also didn't have to pay 4 mana to get it, so idk

Also giving your opponent the draw 3 discard 2 amulet can cause them to accidentally discard their wincon if they use it. So they either have a spell they dont want to play clogging their hand or they pay 1 mana for one card and potentially losing 2 important cards

That's what I thought, until I realized how big of an impact it is that you get to use yours first usually. Like, if deal 6 damage is lethal, it doesn't matter what you put in their hand. If you take control of their Yogg and use his titan ability, it doesn't matter much that they can take him back next turn, the damage is already done.

af kay does basically read "when you summon a minion during your turn, give it +2+2", but with her stat line and cost it's probably still pretty awful. though at some point someone's gonna play some watchpost deck and you're gonna hate your life

The issue is the card is horrendously slow and is probably never living a turn anyway meaning you HAVE to combo it with something that summons a bunch of minions. It's arguably worse Funglmancer (since Funglmancer can be 4 face damage) and that card is like 6 years old or something.

@@amethonys2798 yeah only thing I can think of reasonably is having it with very low cost minions like spamming a bunch of 0 or 1 cost shits. I think it should cost 3 tbh, but if you copy it it can probably do stuff. I guess it might be ok in totem shaman, but yeah most of the time it's bad, though what I was saying is that at some point someone will make a 10% wr deck with it and you're gonna hate when it highrolls and you get wrecked by it.

tidepool pupil: 2 more ice blocks in wild very fun and interactive against legit every meta deck at the moment

Now to make E.Mage and E.Shaman a SSS+ tier deck we need a (common) elemental called "Gas-lighter" with text: "Battlecry: last turn you played an elememtal" Imagine getting 14-26 damage to the face from 2 Lamplighters just for facing mage or shaman

editor is goated. Rarran can react to this few weeks after the expansion and it will be another entry in the ”Worst Card Predictions” -series. Brilliant!

A. F. Kay used to give +3/+3 instead of +2/+2. This can be seen in the reveal video (in gameplay it makes the 2/2 ghouls into 5/5s instead of 4/4s), hinting that it was only modified shortly before it was revealed, so perhaps that's why it doesn't seem as good

Tidespoker pupil is pretty bad. It’s bad until you have played 3 spells so you can’t play it early. Once you play it it is essentially just like playing a 1 mana card to discover a spell from your deck which is normally a 0 mana effect.

Bro what? Commander Sivara was broken in Mage for a similar effect (you usually only cared about 1-2 of the 3 spells you put into it) except it was a one of and only in Mage.

1- Tide: Now we can play 3 of the same spell instead of 2, or 2 legenderay spells instead of 1 Rating: Good 2- Zookeeper: If the beast survives combat its REALLY bad Rating: Unplayable 3- Sailboat: More expensive deckhand extender. Can also push another random pirate already in play into letal range. May allow some new OTK combos from hand. Doomhamer vibes. Rating: Playable - Busted 4- LampLigther - Finisher for elemental decks. If its possible to generate copies of this card it could become really dangerous, but at 3 mana and poor scaling is too slow for an OTK Rating: Playable 5- OverPlanner - Only usefull if the player has other ways to shuffle his deck. Draw 2 cards is better then this effect otherwise. Rating: Unplayable 6- Dread Deserter - Worse then Lerroy as a finisher and too expensive to combo. Good out of RNG. Rating: Unplayable 7- Concierge - Could be a rogue card. Will see play in Tessa / treasure rogue decks Rating: Playable 8- BloodSail - Stats are not very good but discovery is fine to maybe get a third copy of a pirate. The opponent NEEDS to remove it or can become a very nice target to windfury on T3 Rating: Playable 9- Bayfin - Good tech card to get out of Bloodsail against some matchups (mostly hunter) Rating: Unplayable 10- ScrapBooking - Too expensive, also the location needs to not be used to get maximum value. Rating: Unplayable 11- House keeper - Ask for a location, location activation and needs to survive to get 3 armor for each proc Rating: unplayable 12- Seaside Giant - Good discount, requires 5 activations to cost 0, which is doable Rating: Good 13- Grifta - Weird card. Highlander decks can use the extra value. Rating: Playable 14- AFK - Effect is very good but (statline + mana cost + needs a board + dont buff herself) is too much. Rating: Bad

Overplanner can also be useful with Marin's Fill hand card. The meme dream would be to draw Momentum on DH with a fairly low hand size, lol.

AFKay is likely good because when you summon a minion it is guaranteed to not attack that turn and instantly gains +2/+2. You make that a taunt and you instantly are getting fairly high value just from +2/+2 on every minion you summon that turn

I mean that would be cool and all.....if she didn't cost 5 mana. The "insane" play they showed off for her was AF Kay+Army of the Dead. That's a 2 card combo at 10 mana in most likely an aggro deck (some amount of Unholy Runes) all for 15/15 in stats ONLY if you don't use the Rush on the tokens. The card is booty.

Zookeeper definitely feels weird to play. It seems like it would be best in a scenario where you and your opponent have built up boards, so the beast it summons can soften things up for the rest of your board to deal with, but im not sure how common that scenario is.

It's ideal scenario is "kill Ragnaros and get a 5/8 for 7" which is pretty good the 1/1000 games it happens. The card works better against 8/8s than wide boards imo

If one has a mission spell mage (fire ,arcane ,ice)with the card that plays all the played spells that were not in your deck and some how he would play something that does 12 damage +3•xn and kill himself or the opponent or a minion .I feel like that card is so powerful if you can even decide to heal

Not gonna lie, “clear the opponent’s board, summon a 5/8” for 7 mana is not bad. Rarran doesn’t see the vision.

If the opponent has a board like 5/5 2/3 5/5 depending on the order of the attacks that's a board wipe and a 5/8 for you. Even if they only had a 5/5 and a 5/5 everything your opponent has dies.I don't think it's as bad as he's making it out to be.

Yeah I think he's crazy, I'm not 100% sure it'll see play but I could see it seeing play. All boardclears are bad when your opponent doesn't have a board but I don't see it held against all those cards.

Bayfin bodybuilder: just play Front Lines (Summon a minion from each player's deck. Repeat until either side of the battlefield is full.) and hope it is one of the first ones you draw into or play it on the previous turn before the front lines... and you just discarded bunch of minions from your opponent and filled your board.... or play it before any summons something for your opponent cards...

imagine combo for 9: brann, lamplighter x2 if you've played elementals for 7 turns it's probably lethal, and for 8 it is lethal from hand. the deck now doesn't need to be good it just needs to survive to 9 while playing an elemental per turn and maybe dealing 2 chip damage. (plus you don't have to go for full combo, sometimes 18 from hand will be enough)

Murloc deals with hunter's 6/6 rat and 3 cost minion secrets. And deathrattle summons. Wouldn't be surprised to see it in E.T.C.s.

I like the way the expansion is going for "have this op effect, but your opponent will benefit from it too" making it a bit less mechanical, although few of these fun cards are likely to survive the meta 😂

Have you thought of reviewing the upcoming set with cgb? Then you can do a follow up and see who got more guesses right on what cards will be good

I love how we have people with a lot of energy like Zeddy, people who give really in depth analysis and discussion like Regis, then Rarran is like "this 1 drop Naga is trying to bring back DH so it can eat my whole ass." Lololol

I wonder if Scrapbooking Student is even more ass than we think. Considering it says "summon a copy" it most likely will keep the location's durability and "locked status" or whatever you want to call it considering that's how copying minions works.

Zookeeper is actually pretty decent, there are only 4 specific scenarios where this card is useless: 1.- the combined attack of your opponent's board is less than 8 2.- your opponent has an empty board 3.- your opponent has a full board 4 .- your opponent has a board with amitus on the field but right now how the meta is, it's actually pretty decent as a removal, I actually think that if this one was on 5 it would be OP

If your opponent doesn't have a board, then a boardwipe is dead in your hand just like Snoozin' Zookeeper. If your opponent has a board with around 8 health and attack worth of minions, then Snoozin' Zookeeper is better than a boardwipe because you end up with a 5/8.

The existance of A. F. Kay gave ma an Idea for a better legendary. I would call it ''Dustobot 1600'' a 10 mana 10/10 ''You can disenchant this card for full dust value'' Id say it would see more use than A. F. Kay and p[robably be the most anticipateds card of any set it comes out of. or better yet, put it in classic packs to make them great again.
