😍Listening to the works of Frédéric Chopin is wonderful!

Of all the lessons and master classes I've observed (or participated in), this is one of the most remarkable. Rarely does one witness this kind of immediate metamorphosis in a student's playing. A fine pianist to begin with, under Mr. Itin's wing, she took this piece, phrase by phrase, to a new level as Itin plumbed the depths of this work. Refreshingly, Itin works collaboratively and from a position of respect for his student's baseline; too often the masters' approach, instead, is a didactic and condescending one of "do it like this instead," with precious little explanation or insight added. This was uncommonly inspired teaching and inspirational to watch. Bravo to teacher and student.

Dude, did he pay you to say this stuff?? Ok, this was quite a good performance of the Barcarolle. However, when one plays at THIS level, you must be able to take the piece to a NEW level than before. some may think Itan has done that. I do not think he achieved that. Itan is a fine pianist-very fine. However, Unless one has a realization of the work of at least 2 or 3 levels above the player, you really won't make an impression. He speaks of each section but not how each section develops into the next. One MUST be able to shadow the composer in his progression of composition. He sort of approaches it but fails, I think to convey a cohesive approach. I was totally confused by his introductory remarks. He was all over the map. He should have taken each section one at a time and showed the salient points that would help the pianist to bring the section into the next section. He rambles and rambles and rambles. why people think this is high quality teaching is beyond me. Having said that, I think he does have some interesting ideas. The Barcarolle is the ONE work by Chopin that will TRULY show who the real Chopin interpreters are.

Very insightful interpretation of the piece. As a listener, I do not even aware of this amazing imagination and thorough analysis of the piece a good Chopin pianist should have

Almost 2 hours for one masterclass!!!!!!!

Even though this young lady made many amateurish mistakes, she did pretty good considering that she's never been tested in a situation by someone who can identify her many shortcomings.
