In the heart of an Ilonggo village, a river hunting expedition yields a rich harvest of fish, crabs, mushrooms, and eels. Upon their return, the hunters are warmly welcomed by their families. Together, they prepare a communal feast, wrapping the bounty in banana leaves and cooking it in the Ilonggo traditional cuisine, the 'tinu-om'.
Amidst the joyous gathering, a child falls ill, prompting the community to rally together in an attempt to cure the stomach ailment. Various folk remedies, including 'paglaway' and 'paglana,' prove ineffective, leading the father to seek the assistance of babaylanes who used medicinal leaves or “hampol” but to no avail. Desperate to find a cure, the father embarks on a journey, encountering a mysterious child along the way who miraculously heals the ailing boy before vanishing.
As the father and the healed child reach Arevalo, they discover a striking resemblance between the mysterious child and the revered Santo Niño.
Arevalo district of Iloilo is home to what is believed to be the 3rd Oldest Image of Santo Nino in the Philippines and is also the Patron of the district. The people of Arevalo venerate the image through an annual “traslacion” and changing of clothes and regalla of the Holy image. Even before Dinagyang started in 1968, the people of Arevalo have already been devotees of Santo Nino and stories of His healing miracles have already been circulating which strengthened their faith. That faith has made fertile grounds in order for more miracles to happen and colorful stories to be told. Indeed, Jesus - the miracle worker, the healing God - continues His mission today.
