Was trying to figure out how to break symbols. Pretty much the whole idea of symbols is to use with the spray symbols tool. I never would just drag a symbol onto the art board and only use one instance as seems to be shown in this video. Using with the spray tool makes it a symbol set and overlord does not recognise it. So the work around is that you have to expand it first then break it. However, if using a clipping mask the mask is not recognised by after effects when used with broken symbols. Not sure why because clipping masks do translate usually when using different paths and shapes together. In the end it’s easier for me to just open the file in after effects the old way. Would be nice if this worked at some point in the future as I use the symbol spray tool all the time with clipping masks.

The push/pull tools don't seem to recognize scattered strokes? (like with a spray brush). I have a scene with trees for instance and to add a shadow with grain on the green shape representing the leaves, I have clipped a spray-like brush on one side of the tree, within the shape of the tree. When I push to AI, only the shape is transferred but not the grain. Is that normal?

it can take a little while to get used to but it's probably the plug-in I use most now, aside from M3

when i import layers into AE they only come up as outlines. Any ideas of what's happening?

For me it only pushes part of my logo from AI to AE. I tried several times and made sure I selected all layers in Illustrator.

Wonderful animated tutorial on this! Overlord truly is amazing! Okay, I'm newbie with some SoM schooling. I haven't taken rigging course yet but I have manually created my first walk cycle with vector character- not so fancy but, I'm working on how to use duik and limber. I just pushed my character back in ae with Overlord- wow, won't (he) do it! haha... only thing is that I learned to design my character in 4k and the comp is 1920 so that would not raster up. Does that even matter if one uses Overlord? Now that it is an AE shape, it's safe to just scale it down right? Very excited to get this rigged up and keep learning.

@@chippsanders9614 Me too! I hope to take another this year. I'm working on rigging and walk cycles using scripts so I think SOM will fill in my gaps. I'm working on how to use duik and limber. Following Morgan Williams tut from their site. Almost there....

@@HolmesMotion Thanks for getting back! So, I resized in illustrator to fill 1920 x 1080 comp and that way my rescale didn't disjoint/move the position of all my layers. Something about rescaling shape layers is mixed in ae since some shapes have to be controlled within the deeper content element controls. .. eh! I hope my wording is almost right. It was easier to rescale in illustrator. I will go ahead and design in 1920 comp in Ai, use overlord to push into ae new comp and then, I can bring that comp into other compositions of 1920 and scale the character comp altogether. I think that'll do it! Glad for this script and hope to get my workflow going and apply more and more animation principles. This explainer I'm doing is putting me through something! Thanks so much!

Unfortunately this is only for Illustrator and After Effects currently !

If they are shape layers, they shouldn't be pixelated. Is your preview quality on full ? If they are illustrator layers or precomps try enabling 'continuosly rasterize'
