ya, shells feel slower/worse because neither Des Meme's nor Buffalo has 20km+ range.

I think I'm most impressed by the single secondary hit in both games.

Mod accuracy module did help alot shell groups was much more tighter

this ship will be great for doing missions that require you to get X number of main battery hits in a BB.

my thoughts exactly, just did a mission where I needed 1k of those... it was a pain. A shame I don't have anywhere near enough research points for that ship I'd nab it if only for that.

i had enough points to get it for this same mission set. it took all of 6 games (coops) to get it done. it is a fun ship to play but you don't get the "big" hits with it, just a lot of little ones that add up the damage total pretty fast. i am glad i got it, it was worth the points. good luck and see ya out there.@@yochitoranaga

It'll be funny to think a cruiser is spamming you behind an island only to find a BB hull. Almost like a giga-donskoi with floaty shells but 50% more HE dpm.

I'm very sad they took away the GA secondaries from this thing. It could have been the greatest meme to ever sail the seas. That being said I'll still be picking her up on launch.

Looks like a fun and dare I say interesting ship? And look it doesn't even get gimmicked out with consumables. Thanks for the video.

They should really have a promo where you can sell ships and get your dream ship, a combination of ship trade ins and dubloons if they want to make some $. Especially given how difficult it is to put steel together. Like this one, it's a great idea. Love the Des Moines but you do have to be careful with her. Nose in doesn't always work out.

She does, yeah. They’re essentially just DM guns with 4 guns per turret instead of 3. All of the upsides and downsides are the same

I saw Flamuu talk about the citadel of the Illinois. I believe chat and Flamuu came to the conclusion that they legit lowered the Iowa hull by a meter, so the citadel is lower under the water.

Turret survivability, fire reduction, turret traverse( 21.4km range with that velocitity...might as well try range mod gearing), propulsion, concealment, dispersion( you are not a proper brawler, you sit at middle ranges and farm then near the end you push in and finish them off, play the attrition game.) Commander: everything you took except brisk, rather take vigilance. This is a proper battlecruiser, one that has workable armor and DPM unlike the $hit holes that are kronshtadt, agir, siegfried etc. Only thing missing was a radar.

This ship looks super fun, I am just sad that she is sold in the RB.

Useful for BB main battery hit ribbon missions if nothing else.

The accuracy mode reduced the shells from floating so much, I like the illinois it reminds me of the sharnhorst, I hope it doesn't get nerfed

Honestly, all of the RB ships (besides Ohio) are gimmick ships/one trick ponies to some degree. Illinois seems fun with its spammy guns, but you'll probably need a separate commander for it as Ohio takes secondary skills. Paolo Emilio is a fun ship and the cheapest. It really depends on what kind of gimmick you like. Just anything but Gibraltar... it sucks.

Range mod slot 3 will improve your vertical dispersion, it’s not checkable in game, but it’s something that happens.

As mentioned, being a cruiser with bb armor is good. Plus, you get access to the US bb heal which I think is perhaps the greatest advantage over other US cruisers. I wonder if the worse maneuverability and a larger target that takes more damage balances out with the armor protection, improved heal, and more hp than a comparable cruiser. This ship is an interesting concept.

I must have this ship, time to start grinding Harugumo once again…..

I have to ask. No secondary brawler build ? I thought one of the gimmics the ship had was enhanced secondaries such as massa or Georgia. Are they not worth using ? Or did I get that wrong ?

It looks like accuracy mod is little better. First game 283 hits and 8 fires, second game 345 hits and 14 fires. Accuracy mod can get more hits and also better chance for fire.

Of course. But I think that accuracy or reload mod is more a choice of your style of play. For reload mod you must play more mid to close range in order to get more hits, because on long range (like in early first game) you get less hits. Accuracy mod is good for long range style, you can get more consistant hits so you need not to be so close to the enmy ships and expose yourself. It all depends on how you chose to play.

Is it just me or does this ship still have the battleship cap on damage to DDs?

Not to mention, Frenchie AP is fast which in turn means better penetration. French 380 hits more like typical 406.

It really should be called BB 66 Kentucky not BB 65 Illinois since in real life this concept was considered for the Kentucky as it was about twice as complete as the Illinois was. The Illinois was about 1/3rd complete, while the Kentucky was about 75% complete, and was only missing its turrets and superstructure, so this would have been a drop in replacement. The Illinois was more considered for either a hybrid of some kind (guns and missiles or guns and aircraft or even missiles and aircraft), as since it was much less incomplete, they could change it much more. That way if the Delaware is replaced by the Illinois, it would not be a complete fictional ship. TL:DR Illinois should be renamed to Kentucky and Delaware should be renamed to Illinois.

I still wonder why New Jersey has a lower priority on the Prems list than this thing. Big fan btw. :)

Because although bastardized by WG, it was a real design proposed when they had an unfinished Iowa hull sitting on the slipway. Also less people would buy another copy paste Iowa. Missouri is already a thing, and Georgia is already a 'variant' for CQC.

How do you get her again?

I can see this ship becoming very dangerous on the hands of some players. But to me, It feels too underwhelming to play a battleship that is this fragile, and has such low caliber guns, and has no other consumables such as hydro, dfaa, radar, speed boost, etc. Although I think this ship is significantly better comparing to Siegfried, I would still choose any other T10, like Slava or Ohio.

simply speaking its another fail design. You have cruiser firepower in a BB slot. You pretty much lack the ability to 1shot cruisers at up 20km+ or to heavily chunk out a BB that showed too much broadside, You also lack the "fun and engaging" mechanic of overmatch. So if enemies angle against you, you have no other choice then to slowly HE spam them to death. The floaty Des Meme's shells also mean that you have close to no chance of actually hitting slightly smaller/more nimble targets unless they almost hug you (as shown with the Khaba). The killing point is that your team gets a slightly obese Des Meme's while the enemy team gets a Rupprecht/Musashi/Georgia/Soyuz/...the smaller the scale (e.g. ranked), the more this difference will hurt the team that ended up with the Illinois. And Illinois doesn't bring any gimmick or utility that could make up for that difference....

I will use the Accuracy Mod.. The dispersion looks a lot juicier overall and it can make a difference getting rid of these pesky Loliboats. :D

Much bigger dispersion on 15 km... all other american cruisers with this cal are have without modules 137m x 81 m, and 2/0 sigma. when Illinois have 174m x 98 m and 1.8 sigma - soo he will nod do a mass of damage on a long ramge....

the biggest issue i have with this ship, is how inaccurate the guns are in comparison to the desi. whats the point of 16 desi guns if they can't hit anything? Still 16 desi guns at t9 is just hilarious. the shells are identical to the desi. the difference is desi only has 15km range without range mod. most of your fighting was at the very limits or exceeding those of the desi. so the shells feel extra floaty.

Ok so this Preussen is taking quite a lot of damage, I think he's gonna end up dying, potentially to me, probably not 😂😂😂

Seems like if they're going to put CA guns on a BB, you need to buff the shell velocity sho they are more like Russian guns. This ship looks TERRIBLE to me, considering the cost. I'll stick the the Annapolis.

I dont like the "Vibe" of this ship or style. You have the tankiness of a bb, and the DPM of a cruiser. This thing will be a nightmare to deal with. It cant citadelled bcz lmao reasons, and it will always kill you if it goes bow in or kites. BB wouldnt push into this thing, bcz you cant out dpm this thing. A cruiser wouldnt push into this thing bcz it has bb hull. I dont like the sound of this ship honestly

Prime example of the absurd gimmickry messing up the game. Yes, it was designed. Never launched. I think most accept WOw doing that on occasion. However, the design was for 9 16" guns. No plans for rapid fire 203'S. Hey, just design a ship from whole cloth and go with that, to draw people in. "My new ship rocks.". With this excrement, and the absurd hybrids, they're just about there.

WG copy paste add new guns. bla
