The thing about Naperville is that there are some mansions, but also some not horribly expensive apartments. You don't have to be rich and powerful to live here.

Great town! The whole Naperville - Downers Grove-Wheaton-Glenn Ellyn area has cute downtowns and great schools

Franklin Park IL - not bad area too
Elmhurst looks like a fairytale too but lake forest and Wilmette are the best
These towns are all suburbs of Chicago. Also, why isn't LaGrange on the list which is the nicest town among listed.

@@EdwardAndersen. I have traveled all over the country and have been astonished by some of the places I've visited in Illinois. For instance, Grandview drive outside of Peoria has some of the best views I have ever seen, and there are countless other places in the state that no one talks about. I've been to Boston, LA, NYC, and other places that have an extremely high cost of living and are overrated. Not to mention very congested and difficult to get around. Like many people, I appreciate the smaller things in life.
