mit the great Hell, my tractor weights 13,000lbs alone. Add the shredder and trailer weight it's pushing 15,000. Thats being pulled with a 1/2 ton rated for only 8500 yet it pulls fine. Cops dont give a flying fuck anywhere i go..

My lawn tractor can pull my 8k lb. trailer it doesn't make it safe. Very little about towing has to do with pulling the weight, it's about stopping and controlling it under highway speeds goof! If the load you're towing is greater than the vehicle pulling it, which one do you think is gonna win? That's why you need trailer brakes over a certain weight to compensate for the difference.

Yep. I own a minivan and chose to buy Class B Truck plates because I know I will remove the rear seats to haul lumber and materials for my business. Class B here is good to 8600 lbs. Class A is only good to 4300 lbs. Regular passenger vehicle plates can’t be used for any commercial or business-related hauling. I paid the extra $ and will pay more every year for registration but it’s better than dealing with the fuzz and getting “fuzzed up”.

This has nothing to do with what a vehicle can pull. It's what the vehicle is licensed to pull. It's this way everywhere. If you haul heavier loads you pay more for license/registration.

But, ya, glad I'm from the Canuk Texas too, I can max out the tow rating on my truck and not a thing the cops can do about it because I'm non-commercial. Even then I can be over weight and not much can be done as the weight laws apply to commercial vehicles. When I do stuff like in the video, I'm moving stuff for friends who aren't paying me, just giving me some gas money.

You basically can't legally pull a tandem axle with anything without commercial tags. The red flag for her was the big trailer.

As a truck driver in California (California Bridge Law) over axle or over gross they can park you and not let you leave with that load. It's complicated. Best I can offer is know what your weights are. In California its a buck a pound overweight and it gets exspensive real quick. Sounds like you got off easy. In Cali you'd be calling a flatbed with a Long wheelbase that can legal that tractor. That road base you hauled the other day was way heavy too. You were probably over on your 2 3 and 4th axle and it would have been spensive. Learn the laws man. It's a tough game. See Great Dogdad videos for more exciting tips on trucking. Like...don't do it. Ethan 2009 the truck isn’t overloaded. He is driving a vehicle, commercially, and doesn’t have a CDL and he doesn’t have the proper permits for his vehicle. As a semi truck driver I have seen this time and time again. he will have to go to court and it’s going to be a big $$$ ticket.

Damaging the roads is a load of horse shit.

In the UK you would have to reduce your weight to the legal limit before proceeding further.if the officer does not have weigh scales you would have to call in a low loader (low boy) to transport you and the trailer to the nearest scales. Then the overloaded weight will have to be unloaded before you drive on the highway At the scales all passengers will need to be in the vehicle to be weighed. So you have all that cost. plus the fine. It's easy to over look tools and equipment you put in the vehicle, plus you will have fuel. Trucking is not easy, take care. BS

High wheel will bear more weight because as the wheel moves up on the scale, it compresses the suspension springs more and actually lifts some weight off the lower wheels.

Math isnt off. Commerical pickups under 10,000lbs dont requure a log. Anything over that requires pretrip, log books, ect. Same thing in the states but canada uses kilos..

WTF!? Here in Iowa, I had a 97 Geo Tracker with a home made 2" receiver hitch, the vehicle is rated by the manufacturer to have 0 towing capacity. I used it for a few years to haul empty car trailers that weighed 2 to 4k pounds with 0 issues.

Sounds exactly the same in the US. Trucks get a letter designation on their plate for what the truck can weigh. If you dont plan to haul anything you only pay for what the truck weighs, if you are hauling shit you need to pay the higher letter designation plate and obviously stay within that. If you tow over 10k lbs you need a class A CDL. If you're doing it for "business" you need a DOT number and likely a LC license as well. This is why businesses charge more, they have to, to cover the bills just to register and fucking drive and insure the trucks.

my logic makes me think that putting a scale under only 1 tire at a time, with the scale being say 2 inches off the ground, will make the risen weighing tire carry more load as it is carrying some of the weight of the rest of the vehicle as it has been lifted up a couple of inches which would make the scale test wrong. This test would only work if 1 entire axle was weighed at a time but even then by lifting the truck rear tire up you are also lifting the front axle of the tandem trailer again making the test wrong.

Just to let you know I've done over size for many years those scales cannot be used on gravel they have to be a level flat surface or they do not read proper

If the volume was up where I could hear her exact words, However in any trucking operation weight is a key factor, if you're gonna pull a trailer or load down a truck know your weight restrictions or pay the fine. The size of the operation doesn't exempt you from weight regulations

Ya all these other countries have dumb ass laws, Here in the US you have 2 licenses, Standard drivers license, And your CDL (Commercial drivers license) You only need a CDL for a vehicle designed to carry over 16 people, Or your class 7 and class 8 trucks, Over 26,000 pounds, You also need a CDL if your vehicle in combination with other vehicles weighs 26,000 pounds given the vehicle being towed is over 10,000 pounds. So this guy is getting hassled over a standard ass truck with a standard ass trailer, And here in the US my parents own a towing business where we have class 6 trucks (19,501 lbs - 26,000 lbs) which tow other multi ton vehicles often exceeding the 3000 kilos mentions in this video, And we don't need any special licensing. This shit was ridiculous to watch, A man should be able to load up a tractor on a trailer in his own pickup truck and drive it down the road...

You should know what your GVRW. on the truck and trailer. For haul and tow.

It was a matter of time before this happened. Welcome to Canada. Any trailer Chris has with 2 axles needs to be inspected YEARLY to get the yellow sticker, plus his tow vehicle(s) need to be inspected yearly. At least this officer was nice about it and had scales, technically you can pull that trailer around empty and still be "over" because it has the capacity to be over the registered weight. Hookup to a 30 foot travel trailer and throw grandpa behind the wheel and you are exempt from this towing rule. You driving around in a 3500 series truck? Needs yellow sticker. Huge money grab.

i only see this now. But in the netherland you could just protest the fines for the weight because you cant use scales like that on a trailer like yours. If you put it under the first axle then that will be lifter higher because the scales take up room, so it will lift some weight of the rear axle. Then you put in under the rear axle and the same happens again, lifter the front trailer axle. So if they only got scales for 1 axle then what they should do is remove the wheels of 1 axle and weigh it like that, or put both on 1 side and then both on the other side. And like allready mentioned by other, on gravel they dont measure good at all.

My f150 4x4 4 door with my car hauler attached weighs across the scales at 7600Lb which leaves me 2400Lb to haul my derby cars from fair to fair. Mainly haul mini cars which weigh 1 ton before I gut them it’s not a large margin that’s for sure but I make sure I never go over they’ll throw the book at you. The officer was Very nice! I’ve seen some complete tools for officers but this lady she’s a treat.

they do the same here in North Carolina but it's trailer weight not vehicle.

someone went cheap on the registration on the trailer. they prob payed the min to and said we wont be hauling anything but feathers. ha. weighing one tire at a time and adding the weights is the same as weighing the the whole thing at once because it will still be equal pressure to the ground per tire. that trailer should be registered for at least 10,000 lbs she mentioned she ran the trailer, not the truck. of course the truck weighs more. the amount of weight rolling across the roads and how many times determines how long the pavement will last. fewer cars or less weight means the pavement will last longer and will not be replaced as often. its like a pair of shoes. the more they get walked on the sooner you need more rubber. just do not be so tight and register the trailer for more weight. it will only cost another 150 bucks a year to register it for another 7000 lbs, and is still cheaper than the fine. good video, thanks for the upload.

Thomas brian, the trailer does not have a weight, it is like that here in Mo too, the truck plate weight goes for the combine weight of everything, truck, trailer, fuel, people, tools, everything. But ya cheaping out on plates got him

integr8er66 here in Montana you also license trailer for weight. My trailer has 5200 lbs axes so max weight I can license it for is 10,000 lbs on my 2 axel trailer. My 2018 pj 20 foot trailer cost me $186.50 for the tags, non-expiration. 7,000 lbs would have cost only $136.50 if I understood her correctly. My truck we license it for how ever much we want at no extra cost, but you need to state a weight or they go to what the truck weighs automatically. Can’t haul nothing then. But I can’t exceed what my truck is rated for, no matter what I licensed it for on extra weight.

Your weight cannot be all the axle weights combined they share the load. You can only weigh the axles the plate on the vehicle gives these weights. Gross train can only be calculated on a weigh bridge a scale that weighs all axles at the same time
