absolutely a fabulous dancer, Malaguena is flamenco music and its so hard to skate to, he is doing it perfectly, look at his facial expression in this program, his glare is so decisive and sharp, you can tell he is really enjoying and has became the music.
Wow, Wow, Wow! Great selection of music. Ilia's artistry has improved 100%. This program is a winner.

@@user-qc9md4iy6f Wow! Ilia just won gold at the world championships 4 days ago with a WR score for FS and also he has the 2nd highest combined score, just 2 points behind Nathan Chen.

IIRC, his mother (and co-coach) skated to this music circa 2000. Both his parents were outstanding singles skaters on the world stage, grandfather also a noted coach.

Yes, I have really noticed growth in his artistry this past year in particular. Finally catching up to his technical prowess. @OIP - Did you have a filter on to get it to star like that on the lights? Really exceptionally beautiful.

@@Jeremy-wp4yhno, this is a short program. It’s always the 3 required jumping passes: one axel, one solo jump, and one combination. Sometimes he switches out which jumps he’s doing, but the number of jumping passes has always been 3 for this program.

I am just glued to the screen when Ilia is skating! Because he is a young man with style and posture and skills that are beyong imagination.
That is some rough looking ice! A pass with the zamboni would not have gone amiss.

He was probably the last in his group to skate. They only run the zamboni between groups.

Just spectacular! I was so lucky to see this in-person today at the world championships in Montreal. He is creating a whole new generation of figure skating fans, myself included. I only started watching in the last few years and he has been the biggest reason. Awesome camerawork too, thanks so much. :)

He’s amazing for obvious reasons BUT, as any skater will tell you, the condition of that ice is horrendous and skating on it in that condition makes it SO hard to keep your flow and timing since your adjusting to bumps, ruts and really slow ice. Well done!!!

Technically impressive, and improved spins and steps, but he still moves as if he has not fully grown into his lanky body, with limbs flopping from one element to the next like a rag doll. A strong focus on ballet would help.

Ich habe mir noch einmal das Kurzprogramm " Winter" von Yagudin dagegen angesehe und muss sagen, da kommt bis heute keiner ran.Soviel mehr an Geschwindigkeit, Dynamik und Körperbeherrschung.Es ist eben doch nicht nur ein Abspülen von Sprüngen.
