Imagine finding out your Professor starred in Weird Science… The film is so special for us lucky GenXers who watched it while we were in High School in 1985. All these years later it’s amazing to see that Ilan M. Mitchell-Smith is so humble and down to earth…🙏😎

To me , The Wild Life is a very underrated film . I'll argue with anyone about this movie . It has some serious moments , like with Randy Quaid . And this kid ( at the time ) did a great job .

He's modest and you can tell that the success he had didn't go to his head. I liked the movies I've seen him in. I actually see a lot of myself in him, which is why I can relate.

I adore The Wild Life and Weird Science. And as a teenage (a little younger than Ilan) I associated mainly with his characters in those movies. And funny enough I was a punk kid in my neighbourhood (always in trouble - when the cop knows your firstname you know it’s bad 😂) and at the same time I was the nerd in school(for wanted reason, I still don’t understand). So basically the two characters of the two aforementioned movies. Also funny, I work(ed) (not actively bidding of shows currently) in movies and TV shows as a special effects and visual effects artist. And I fell into that late in life, and I take care to separate my FX work from my IT freelance work. So I don’t mention it on my “real job”. And some people find out when they google my name, and they see that I was a pro-musician and work in entertainment business. Suddenly they are extra curious. Because I don’t mention it (three whole different jobs). And people want to know if you met certain talents and what it’s like on sets (which is rare in VFX not as rare in SFX, to be onset), because to them it’s an unfamiliar world, so they are intrigued. And they don’t seem to understand that for me, it’s just another job. I take it just as serious and there’s just as much tedium in being a musician or an FX artist; and often a hell of lot more stress.

I am only like 2 years younger than him but i loved this dude in the 80s, i thought his character in "The Wild Life" was so cool when i was young. and everybody loved him in "Weird Science", Wyatt was so genuinely nice and likeable. for years i used to wonder what happened to him as i just stopped seeing him in anything, it is good to see he is so happy.

Does anyone know who the child actress was that said "OMG I'm so clumsy.." and rolled her eyes? I'm the same age as ILM and Wild Life was a great movie as a kid in NJ basement suburbia in the 80's.
