a shame that really this idea lacked the engines to make it work, another 1,000 hp and six forward firing machine guns and this might have been a useful addition to the RAF. that would take about another 3 years to develop though. nice post, thanks, that was good.

Well said sir. Why couldn't they have at least just put two forward firing .303's on the Defiant?

Another 1000 hp? MkII already had 1260, and the 303 is far too puny. It should at least have had 13mm or .50 cal. Maybe even 20 mm at least forward (good against bombers). A very intriguing but useless British design. I love it, and I would love to fly it in IL2!

@@USER351 it needed 2,200 hp at least and it could of been moderately effective if it had six forward firing .303 mgs added. at 300-400yds the.303s in the turret did bring down bombers when caught by the defiant, forward facing guns may of done the same. we'll never know.

Boulton-Paul did build and test fly a non-turreted 8 x wing machinegun version, called the P.92, but the air ministry rejected it. Fun fact: The Defiant was 1 MPH faster than the A6M Zero.

Why did you use an outdated version of the mod for this video? There's a much improved version available at SAS, not just 3D improvements but also semi realistic turret behaviour and other things fixed.

Selon moi si il aurait pas de tourelle dorsale, il ressemblerait à un Huricane

@@christelleclaisse338 Exactly why the air ministry decided they didn't need Boulton Paul getting a budget to produce what Hawker Industries was already putting out.
