I first heard this in the 60's played on trumpet and it sounded beautiful, this by Eric is also beautiful, why can't decent music like this be played today instead of the rubbish that is churned out?

For many, that is very suiting. It was music commissioned by The Netherlands, by 2 Italian composers, for the 20th anniversary of liberation during WW2 in 1965. Many towns and villages still to this day have parades, usually featuring this song, and others tend to cemeteries of American and British soldiers who died freeing them.

This version on guitar transports me to a beautiful place within me I am lost within, your playing thank you so much Eric.

Mi ricorda la prima notte quando arrivai in caserma, suonava il silenzio. Nonostante siano passati 50 anni, quando sento queste note mi vengono ancora in mente tanti ricordi di gioventù, e senza rendermene conto mi si inumidiscono gli occhi. NINI ROSSO era unico ed irripetibile, nonostante sia morto nel 1994 la sua tromba resterà per l'eternità.

Cada dos o tres días tengo que venir a esta página y escucharlo. En primer lugar me parece el más bonito de los toques de silencio o de oración que existen, pero esta versión de Nini Rosso, es única, la mejor de cuantas he escuchado, y creo que algo de música sé, a mis 59 años, toco la guitarra desde los 9, el piano con 14 años, y la armónica también y desde hace 5 el saxo tenor, es decir algo entiendo de música, y estoy totalmente enamorado de esta versión, me parece la mejor que he escuchado al día de hoy. FANTÁSTICO.

Great performance, and I for one will not sit in judgement as to whether it is "not as good" as the trumpet versions. I will just enjoy both types, and be all the richer in enjoyment by not being judgemental about them.

Very beautiful melody from 1965. Superb instrumental recording. So clean and crisp. Eric who plays everything and did all the back up looks happy and cool in the video where you can see him play solo guitar. Thumbs up Eric. I wrote this comment as a report since I'm also sharing it on G+.
