You crashed with a Yakrolev, you survived, the paras were grounded successfully, your left wing was ass fucked but you were able to land it. 10/10 I would hire you as my personal pilot

+SDDrewGS4 It's not realistic at all. There's absolutely no way the wing of the other plane would be intact. Both wings would be cut off.

That Russian Yak-pilot, if he survived the crash, undoubtedly died of shame later that day because of his epic amateureness.

Nice vid but please excuse my being pedantic when I say that the fallchirmjagers parachutes are wrong, they had a single point of contact for the parachute to the harness which made the landing style nearly uncontrollable except for the most adept and then it wasn't easy, also fallschirm jumped with the smock over their tunic and combat equipment which amounted to little more than a pistol and maybe some grenades, all other weapons were contained in weapon canisters which were dropped at the same time along with them. Before anyone shoots me down (excuse the pun), yes I know I am a sad sack and I don't get invited to parties etc etc. :)

You're right about the harness. The German's did use that odd, single point of contact on their parachutes. The advantage I believe, was the German could fire his weapon while descending more easily. The disadvantage of course, as you said, was the lack of parachute control while descending.

That wing was only being held together by 1or 2 rivets, amazing it held till the landing.

The ruskies actually experimented and even implemented paratroopers that - uh - didn't have parachutes. Since parachute silk was expensive, the soviets sought a cheaper alternative. In the battle of Moscow a platoon of troopers was dropped from 30 feet into the snowbank, and only suffered mass caz!

I dont think he did it on purpose. When I was learning to fly I did the same thing. He took to much risk and probably felt bad after.

If I may ask, why not kill throttle on landing and try to "ease" onto the strip? Or is IL-2 not kind to that style of landing?

Only for random mission generator style "Campaign" currently. We may be able to see them in new Career mode or Scripted Campaigns in 2017.

Can you drop paratroopers from any other planes other than this one?

What happened on landing? Did you pull up on purpose or did the wing come off on touchdown and you lost control?

I was pulling the stick slightly up to reduce speed but the plane was already out of my control on the ground.

Is the paratroopers currently available with IL-2 BOS and BOM on steam? Also, is it possible to have the paratroopers do follow missions after they land in the editor? Great vid!

For now those paratroopers are just static objects, unfortunately. I hope for more active ground battle mechanics such as defending towns or capturing airfield with paratroopers in the future. :) Oh.. and you need Ju-52 Tante Ju to drop paratoopers.

Yes you can create mission types of paratrooper-drops or cargo-drops in the mission editor.

Shooting the parachutes is possible but not sure about shooting up the pilot or other soldiers. Actually that's an interesting question. :D

in the first il 2 sturmovik game it was possible to shoot and kill pilot while he was parachuting without destroying his parachute
