iKon VLX21 Bass Boat Walkthrough

Спорт

I just picked up my brand new iKon VLX21 bass boat from Johnson's On The Water in Park Rapids, MN. I spent 2 days rigging it with Humminbird and Minn Kota products. I tossed my gear in and headed to the lake to see how it all worked and what needs to be tweaked. If you have any questions be sure to ask. So far this boat has been absolutely amazing!!

Great boat Casey! Dumb question, but is there a built in garbage can? My boat has one next to the cooler and I love it.

How does it drive? Any porpoising at any speeds or any listing to one side with someone else in boat with you?

I'm by myself 99% of the time, so the first time I loaded the boat in this video I had all my heavy stuff on the port side to balance my weight out. It floats perfect and drives level. At 20mph if you don't have jackplate and trim correct it started to porpoise and I just gave it a tad of gas pedal and it went away. At speeds faster then that it drove great. My wife went for a boat ride yesterday, and at 20mph (because she doesn't like any wind in her face at all) it had some list to her side - that was with all my gear over there and her. If I gave it a little more gas it flattened right out. Based on that info, 18-20mph is just not a speed I use. Most of the time I'm in that 35-40 easy crusing speed so my camera gear doesn't get banged around, or wide open. I'm also rethinking putting all my heavy stuff on the port side, bow lift and takeoff are awesome and I'm going to try and just leave it all in the front center storage area. Today on a full throttle run it had zero chine whatsoever and just feels good driving. I've had Skeeter's, Tritons, Rangers, Phoenix and so on - This boat I have now is pretty special and I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far!!

Nice boat. Do you like it better than the Phoenix?

I loved my 2 Phoenix boats. I walk in my garage to my iKon, especially after having it on the water and putting it through the paces, and smile every time I see it. I love the body lines. I love the monsterous front deck. One thing I wasn't expecting was how great it pulls behind the truck. Seats are very comfy. Cooler actually keeps ice in it. The finished compartments are great. The room around the 3 front graphs is crazy, I can walk around and stand on the nose of the boat or access the trolling motor when down if I need to adjust the height very easily. If I had to go buy a different boat tomorrow, another iKon would be coming home with me.

That's a loaded question with 150 different variables. I have 3 big graphs up front on a big heavy mount. Apex 16, 13 and solix 12. 52" ultrex quest which has a bigger base, target lock and mega live /mega 360. With all my gear - minus a few extra rods, livewells full, I hit 68.5 today. I only have 5 hours on the motor and not fully broke in yet. I have lithiums in the back and too much weight on the front. It's a 21' boat, and to compare to my Phoenix 920 Elite, that was a 74-75mph boat BEFORE I rigged it this same way. Once I did that, 68-69 is all I could get 99% of the days. I might throw some weight in the rear just to see if it helps get the back down and more balanced. If I took the graphs off and put some helix or lighter units up front it would/could make a lot of difference. Also - my graph mounts are being redesigned up front and at the console. Front is tipped more and shorter arms to get the graphs down and not up like a sail. Same at console, dropping them 2" lower - today I could hear the wind whistling off the console units as they were fully catching full wind.
