The k1 ultra arrived today. the cable hooking the module is too short.when autofocusing,if the working surface is a bit too low, the cable stop the process and the z axis suffer a lot. But it is a powerfull and smart machine. A great tool for everyone who enjoy making stuff. Very good video. Very detailed.subscribed.

Thanks for watch and the sub! I routed my cables on the side of the laser module- not sure if that would help you with your cable length.

Thanks for all the videos on this machine. I jumped on the $699 sale price of the K1 Pro and will be looking to your videos a lot to help me with learning how to set up and use it. I really wish they would make the bottom of the laser module with the safety glass removable so you can take it off to take more advantage of the step-down feature, but it definitely better than nothing. Hard to imagine these 20w machines were basically the highest power and over twice as much just a year ago! I really wanted to hold out for cheaper prices on 48w machines that can reduce to 24w for finer engravings for best of both worlds, but if we always wait for the next big improvement on the horizon, we'll never get anything.

The holiday pricing on the Ikier K1 family of laser machines is amazing! $699 for a high quality 24w machine is awesome! I have the 24w and the 24/48 and at 48watts of laser goodness- it's... leaving me speechless. Let me know how the K1 Pro works for you! I have a video scheduled using the 24/48 engraving a glass ornament the Ikier chuck rotary- good times to come. Thanks for watching!

for cutting glued pine board pannels, such as the one in the video which are 3/4 inch tick, I've encountered some issues specifically with the glue joints. I want to ask if you have any advice on dealing with that

The pine board in the video that's 3/4" thick is a solid piece of wood- no glue and it cuts well. The 1/4" plywood, of course, is glued and also cuts very well. I would not recommend cutting 3/4" construction plywood due the large and unpredictable glue voids. High quality furniture plywood would be interesting to try out! Thanks for watching!

The z-axis sinking is amazing! The engraving did not look as good as the first example?

Z-axis sinking is awesome!! The second example- the wood is solid pine instead of craft plywood like the first example. Craft plywood has more uniform wood grain and produces really nice/even engraving- this is why so many people use craft plywood. Using solid wood will the variations of the wood grain and texture and will have a different look than plywood- good observation!

I just put together my IKier 24w Pro. I am wondering what the LEDs on the laser itself are representing. Do you know?

The vertical row of LEDs are the laser power level commanded to the laser module. Thanks for watching!

did you ever cut 12 mm mdf with it and if so what were your settings ?

  • @thelaserchannel1

Hi- I've tried 12mm MDF on other machines but not the Ikier K1. The other machines I tried it on were Co2 lasers and had hard time and produced a lot of charring. Maybe a laser diode machine would be better- I would suggest a thinner MDF. Thanks for watching!

Hi- there's an anchor screw that secures the tension pulley to the rear of the machine- once loosened the tension screw can be adjusted to reset belt tension. Use the X-axis belt tension for reference.

Just multiply the mm/s by 60 to get mm/m. Thanks for watching!

What is your “fire laser” percentage at to do these cuts? I have power at 100% and speed at 10%. But I don’t see how much fire laser % you have for those smooth cuts

To cut the 3/4 inch thick pine board I used the following settings: 100% power, 10 mm/s speed, 10 passes and air assist at 100%. Let me know if this works for you. Not all pine boards are the same and you may need to adjust more or less passes to cut all the way through. Thanks for watching!
