Well presented Paul. I really liked the light. I can picture that light curling around and over a turntable. Great for pinpoint cuing. The frames were sweet too. Everything you showed can be beneficial to any vinyl collector. Way to go Paul and thanks for sharing all of these gadgets~ Rob/Boston

Great video with some excellent ideas! I’ll definitely look into getting a few of those wooden crates for my singles. (Love that you used an ABBA album for that frame!) Also, that’s a beautiful album display in the background! 😎🎸👍

Hi Paul, great idea. My closest IKEA is 2 hours away but we do enjoy visiting it if we have time. I really do need to get a dish drainer for when I clean records. That would make things much easier The price on the crate was good. I was looking for one to set in my albums that I need to play and the ones waiting for a video. Enjoy your weekend. Steve

Hi Steve! Ha! You want the use the crate exactly as I'm using it. The records are of the floor. And as the crate is half the height of a record, you can easily flip through them. By the way I'm pretty sure the cat will also love to sit in it :) I almost got an other crate. It's a crate with a big hole in the front and a cushion on the bottom. I think this is what the kids on KZread call "hacks" Paul ;-) Nice ideas, I too am always on the lookout for vinyl useful items at IKEA. Found some LP frames at a local craft store chain a while back, wasn't aware IKEA had something similar. Might be time to expand the framed album ranks! All the best, take care!

haha there are actually about three or four IKEA within L.A. I love that store.

Some interesting ideas there, that frame I will have to search out next visit! I end up looping around the store and finding my way back to the restaurant way too many times each visit. End up eating too much, as well as buying things I never knew we needed. 😂

Wonderful job, Paul. Going to Ikea is always an ordeal in the States since they are few and far between - an hour to get to one, and then an hour to check out (literally). Apparently lots of audiophiles use the butcher block as a table mount that is sold, but I think that is $20.

Hey Kris. I was surprised, normally we have the same long lines, but there were quite a few new self service counters. Scan the items yourself, pay with your card, get a receipt and ready :) Had a quick look at the different butcher blocks, but couldn't find a good one below 10. Still it's seems to be a great tip. I wonder if you will feature their chopping boards in the other video. Its called Slaktarblock I think and many use it as a makeshift dampening platform for their turntables because its made out of layered Bamboo, so its a cheap alternative, but I dont remember what it costs.

You can get the white Ikea boxes for free from their warehouse section that hold many of their items they sell. Just purchase a few items and put them in the box. The register attendants there always put your items back in the box to let you carry your items out. Free.

I am using that same frame too. I am still looking for some Japanese vinyl to my toilet room. That ABBA fit well for it. :) You have put nicely those records back of you on shelf. mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)

Ikea tablet holder is good also for vinyl. I mentioned also it on some video, but don't remember anymore when it was.

Metalen vaatwasrekjes om vinyl in te zetten vind ik altijd een beetje "eng". Hoe groot is de kans dat je het vinyl krast bij het plaatsen of er uit halen? Van die zwanenhals lampen zijn inderdaad heel erg handig, die gebruik ik bij solderen erg veel. Dat die zo goedkoop zijn bij de Ikea, dat wist ik nog niet! Ik woon op fietsafstand van een Ikea, dus dat gaat wel goed komen haha

De lampen zijn echt super en kosten bijna geen drol. Ondertussen gebruik ik ze bijna overal voor, waar ik goed licht bij nodig heb. Inderdaad als het droogrek van plastic was geweest, nog beter. Hoewel zolang er geen scherpe randen of beschadigingen in het metaal zit, moet het goed gaan. Het is in de laatste twee jaar niet gaan roesten, dus er zal wel een soort bescherm coating overheen zitten. Fijne avond nog. /Paul

@@XjunkieNL Ah ja een goed laklaagje over het metaal, zoals autolak of poedercoating scheelt inderdaad flink. Tegenwoordig bestaat er een soort rubber spray in een busje, om een rubber coating aan te brengen. Ik zat daar aan te denken als modificatie, want je weet maar nooit. Ik heb al wel twee droogrekjes van de knosti antistat, een soort vinyl handwas 'machine'. Daar kunnen er maar tot 9 stuks op uitdrogen, dus jouw tip van het vaatwasrekje is een goed idee.

would that 7" box also fit 10"es if one was about to rotate it by 90° degrees?

Just tried it out. Yes! It's almost a perfect fit. About 0.5cm space left on either side. It also means that the bigger box that is available will fit even more 10inches if necessary. It has the size of two small ones. Good luck. Cheers. /Paul

great stuff, good news. i really despise the lack of proper 10" storage options in the vinyl world. it's the original format for dubplates and used to be proper popular in the drum'n'bass world for regular releases as well. and there's quite a few labels in the electronic music world still releasing a stream of 10"es so this part of my collection keeps growing still. yet unfortunately i still do only own one lonely 11" record so i don't have to worry about specific storage options for these as well.

My 10inch collection is very limited. As you wrote a few electronic release from the early 2000s. I really like the format for EP's. The wooden box will be a nice option. But maybe wise to double check at Ikea. I didn't know 11inch existed. Cool!

this is my lonely 11" - there's a few more out there but the format actually is rare www.discogs.com/X-911-Untitled/release/32298 my 10" collection clocks in about roughly 150 or so. a few of them even 2x10" format albums, locked grooves with one or even two center holes (for producing locked-grooves sinewave pulses), old spoken word records, one-sideds, etched etc. . but overall not too many in comparison to the rest of the collection. there's also a box of 10" and 12" dubplates but they don't count as i've cut them for dj-use only and a majority of the music i've cut as dubs has never been released officially anyway. so they're dj exclusives.

First off it looks as though you are not a serious collector of 33 rpm`s or 45 rpm`s. I own over 14.000 lp`s & 12.000 cd`s in my collection not to mention a large selection of 45 rps rpm`s. Should you want a little inside information I can let you know what is the very best LP box to store your Lps in. As for framing lp`s in a collection in a frame that must be purchased at a store , I love this way to display great lp cover art, ok, Question...If you have a large collection as I do. Where the hell can I Hang them all? As of your Filtro Rack it is again not the way to go. As for your 45`s that you might have. Do you really stock them as shown in your video? I really hope not!!!
