Standing desks are the in thing right now so I got to build this adjustable height desk with a steel frame, walnut cladded leg and feet, with a giant walnut breadboard top. The top measures roughly 72x40" and the desk adjusts from 28" tall up to 48" tall with a hand crank that is hidden under the top of the desk and pops out to adjust the height. It's all made from solid walnut that was actually both felled and milled locally in Rhode Island, just to make it a little cooler. It looks just like a regular desk unless you peak underneath it!

I am a novice DIYer so couldn't even dream of building anything within miles of a shadow of this! But the workmanship & the tools armory! OMG! Gave me tingles! 💞 You are a true genius & master craftsman 🌟
This is absolutely beautiful. I've been looking for a standing desk for some time. Now I have something to compare to!
Can always count on you to create something awesome. Can also imagine that the music in your shop is even more radical than what you are getting gripes about. If a guy wants to hurry up and get old, he should never pay attention to what the kids are doing.
Beautiful build. I watched to see how you made a wooden desk lift mechanism. Wrapping a well built steel assembly with walnut was a brilliant plan. Thanks for sharing.
Stunningly awesome! Fantastic job, my friend
The kind workmanship you have demonstrated here is simply superb. Full respect!
Beautiful table Paul! Loved that you showed the burnishing of the leg miters. - Jim
Amazing looking. I do like the change of music at the end when the project is done. 👍
Nice Job! Love walnut, especially when the finish goes on!
If there's nothing else I take away from your videos, it's your taste in music and some new artists to add to the mental library.
That hammer trick for the miters!! Great build, dude. Love that Walnut!

That's one of my favorites!! That was my old school carpenter shop teacher who taught me that one, literally a life saver when trimming a house.

What does it do exactly?
Beautiful, amazing idea of covering the legs!
A desk that can rise to an occasion. Beautiful work sir.
Love the long/short grain solution on the top, will keep that baby in mind, cheers my Bro.
Seeing you use the Lufkin rule reminds me of my dad, who used it on every project. Desk is awesome.

Yes! Got that from an old woodworking teacher of mine, also means a ton when I pull it out to use it
You have mad skills. I'm so impressed. I just recently stumbled across your videos. Keep them coming.
That thing is gorgeous, Paul! Love how it turned out!

Thanks so much Memo!
Perfect timing - wife wants a new desk, likes the sit/stand idea, but hates the ugly metal legs that come with most sit/stand hardware kits. Great video, you've earned a new subscriber here!
Beautiful. That grain came to life.
How to make walnut look that good? Check out Waterlox products! bit.ly/waterloxjackman Full build article www.jackmanworks.com/adjustable-height-sitstand-walnut-desk/ The leg kit I used came from IKEA, you can actually buy it without the top which is pretty sweet.
Very cool table! Mechanism is way simpler than I was expecting, really clever

Yeah I'm impressed they can tuck that all in there!
Wow, the walnut in RI looks a lot like the stuff that grows here in Oregon. Like, I thought it was the stuff I sell, at first! Great project and video, Paul!
This was a real pleasure to watch. Great build, man!
Very cool build. I really like the hammer to smooth the corners trick. I'd never seen that. Thanks.
Quality. Not just the custom job, but the whole video edit. It was a real eye- and ear-gasm! Well done!
THIS DESK IS A THING OF BEAUTY!!!!! LOVE IT!!!

Looks great! I always prefer a wood look over the general black or white desk. Nicely done!
Seriously mad woodworking skills, bro! Awesome video. Thank you.
nicely done. great way to conceal much of the steel frame.
That came out awesome! That mechanism looks really smooth too. -Caleb Harris

Awesome video!!
So cool Paul! Great job!
That rocks and so did the opening music! :) - Heidi
The return of Jack 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
very nice thanks
Awesome vid - I've got a similar kit (and walnut boards!) waiting to go together and this will help immensely. I hadn't planned to get so involved with the end caps (my original idea was a simple 1" border of yellowheart) - but that sure looks nice the way you did it so I may have to sack-up and give it a go. The only thing that detracts from your build is that the decorative part of the leg covers rises with the desk. My kit will allow me to keep the covers on the base, and the legs are black, so I hope it looks a little more furniture-like when in full rise (I'm 6'3") And hey - I did my entire house (maple floors) with Waterlox back in 2000 - and it still looks awesome today! At the time I tested several similar finishes - and Waterlox looked the best hands-down.
