Standing desks are the in thing right now so I got to build this adjustable height desk with a steel frame, walnut cladded leg and feet, with a giant walnut breadboard top. The top measures roughly 72x40" and the desk adjusts from 28" tall up to 48" tall with a hand crank that is hidden under the top of the desk and pops out to adjust the height. It's all made from solid walnut that was actually both felled and milled locally in Rhode Island, just to make it a little cooler. It looks just like a regular desk unless you peak underneath it!

Can always count on you to create something awesome. Can also imagine that the music in your shop is even more radical than what you are getting gripes about. If a guy wants to hurry up and get old, he should never pay attention to what the kids are doing.

Beautiful build. I watched to see how you made a wooden desk lift mechanism. Wrapping a well built steel assembly with walnut was a brilliant plan. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome vid - I've got a similar kit (and walnut boards!) waiting to go together and this will help immensely. I hadn't planned to get so involved with the end caps (my original idea was a simple 1" border of yellowheart) - but that sure looks nice the way you did it so I may have to sack-up and give it a go. The only thing that detracts from your build is that the decorative part of the leg covers rises with the desk. My kit will allow me to keep the covers on the base, and the legs are black, so I hope it looks a little more furniture-like when in full rise (I'm 6'3") And hey - I did my entire house (maple floors) with Waterlox back in 2000 - and it still looks awesome today! At the time I tested several similar finishes - and Waterlox looked the best hands-down.
