Ikea Billy Bookcase Hack (Cost Me £197) - My Easy Fitted Bookcase Guide

    @@kirstygriffiths749 Thank you for replying, I will be happy to see the new vid! May I double-check with you the exact steps you followed to build the external frame? From what I understand, you screwed the wood onto the walls, then attached the 6mm MDF onto the wood just with glue and then used the filler in the gaps? Is this correct? I'm considering doing something similar for an Ikea Pax wardrobe and I just have 5cm each side to fill...I was thinking to use just mdf but I'm not sure how I'm going to attach it... thank you so much just for reading all this :)

    Great job very detailed which is great. How'd you smooth out the rough edges. And the gap at bottom on bookcase How'd u fill that

    rough edges? I don't really have any? no sanding on this job really. I don't have a gap at the bottom? the MDF covers everything.

    What a fantastic job!! Amazing and inspiring! I’m thinking of doing something similar but putting the wallpaper on the back of the original wooden board that comes with the IKEA shelves. Is there any reason you would think that wouldn’t work? I thought it might eliminate the problem of dealing with the little gap at the back of the units.. thoughts are welcome 😊

    I think you could easily add to the back , I bought one of my units second hand with no back so wallpapered the wall.

    I think you mentioned the builders did the skirting? Is this not something you could do? I feel like you could as your good at everything else i was going to do it myslef but now feel scared becusse you didnt !

    They were fitting out the entire room so did it for me as I’d paid them. I can do it .

    Great job, did your b&q cut the slim strips? My other half said our local one had a limit of 150mm which seemed a bit tight

    They’ve recently lowered the price. I just bought some in Sacramento, CA for $70 for the bigger ones last weekend.
