FIRRA

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now i know from comment,I was wrong in measuring the body length.
The head is not included in the body length, so the actual body length is 15.3inch(39 cm).
This means that the required toilet size was 23inch(58.5 cm).
Thank you for your comments!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I have any questions about cats, I try to read a book by Jackson Galaxy, a famous cat expert.
I was surprised to read in the book that [the proper litter size is body length x 1.5].
Mugi, our biggest cat, is 18.1inch(48cm) long.
That means a 27.1inch(69cm) toilet is perfect.
but the largest cat litter box in our house is only 20inch(51cm) long.
I immediately looked for one on Amazon, but the cheapest one cost 35USD(3900JPY)
That's expensive!
I went to IKEA to see if they had one, and found a really nice one.
Like the previous IKEA video ( • [IKEA] 5+1 Cat Produc... ), it's not cat supplies again.
The cat litter box (www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lurvig-l...) sold at IKEA is small, 20inch(51cm).
But this storage box, SAMLA, is 30.7inch(78cm) long and only 8.99USD(800JPY)
This time, I also bought the FIRRA 26inch(67cm) 15USD(1,700JPY) to see which one my cat liked best.
The result was that SAMLA was the best, and FIRRA was the second best, indicating that cats like large toilets.
I hope these results are useful.
However,I didn't expect that some of cat would sleep in the cat litter box.

One of my cats used to love to roll in the litter when it was fresh then come sit with me. I did not like the feel of the litter dust on her fur or on my hand or the smell of it. Not really a bad smell, just very strong laundry detergent smell. Also all that dust on her fur could not be good for her to ingest as she cleaned herself so I had to get unscented litter to stop her from rolling in it. But we have switched to pellets now.

We found that our Bengals often pee standing up, so I got high sided storage boxes from my local hardware store to use for litter boxes. I also put the litter to 10cm deep so that the pee doesn't reach the bottom. This makes it much easier to scoop. I'm very grateful that my cats don't play in the litter tray like yours did!

My mum got tired of the kitty litter being flicked around so much so decided to buy a large storage container. Has been fine for our larger cat but our smaller cat started to pee in the bathroom. I put out a normal size tray and saw her peeing one day. She had her front paws on the edge of the tray. Turns out that's how she likes to do her business and the large container was too tall for her. She hasn't peed in the bathroom since. It also took me a stupid amount of time to realise I wasn't putting enough litter in the tray. Clumping litter needs to be deep.

We have a BIG cat - he can't squat in a regular litter box and keep the poop in the box. So we use plastic storage boxes, inside a BIG storage tub to hold any litter he shoves out. The side of the tub was cut away for access. And if you place the exit over a BIG washable doormat it tends to trap most of the litter from the paws. Now if we could keep him from doing a parcour run in and out of the box that would be great.

Good video. I’ve had many cats, and do something similar, but I use deep storage bins. I cut a U-shaped entrance on one side, with a litter mat outside the entrance. It’s, big enough to be comfortable, high enough that litter doesn’t get everywhere when they scratch the litter to cover their deposit. I still vacuum in the area every day, but it’s a million times cleaner than before. The commercial kitty boxes are way too small and shallow. Completely agree with this content creator

It's crazy what companies will charge for what amounts to a plastic storage bin. I had one from HD with a broken lid and got the same idea as this guy, though my motivation was that the deeper sides would keep my cat from kicking litter all over the laundry room. Cost, free. I've been using really large plastic tote boxes for my cat since she was young. She doesn't mind the tall (maybe 18inch?) sides and it seems to help a bit with litter tracking and she doesn't kick litter out or "miss" the box. The tall sides dont stop litter tracking completely but it helps for sure. We deep clean the tote every few months with bleach and probably replace them every year and a half, or basically when the cat pee smell won't go away with a good clean.
