The Youruba rhythmic universe is the richest and deepest on earth, in my view: also in its offsprings in Brasil, Cuba, Haiti and the rest of the Diaspora. As a drummer myself, i feel deep gratitude and love for what Yoruba culture gifted humanity with.

You can't get any more deeper into my family tree roots than the Yoruba culture part of my family from South Africa. My family is from many nations, with many languages and such, but my great grandmother (who is mainly Spanish blood born in Cuba) would say, "This is where we all originally came from (points to South Africa)." She reminded the family of its original origin and to always honor and respect it, regardless how we look, our skin shade, where we live, etc, she had such pride over starting the family history from there (she passed away in 1997/98). My mother would pass that tradition of honoring ancestors through enlisting and saying with such pride where we came from. Reminding us that the world is one place and we are all the same at the end.

There is actually the out of Africa theory in science and a lot DNA testing that provides a lot people coming from Africa, but more testing needed so far in order to not just be a "theory" but factual proven knowledge. Anyway I have done DNA testing and my paternal ancestors go back all the way to the Yoruba, while my maternal side people go back to the Ilemi Triangle, an area between the borders of today's Kenya, South Sudan and Ethopia and it's disputed territory that Kenya as well as South Sudan claim for themselves, while Ethiopian tribes also live and operate there, but the Ethiopian government never laid any claims on the land and says it's belongs to Sudan, as put in writing in various treaties when africa was split into colonies. All while Kenya is said to have the de facto control over the area currently. The disputes comes due to the areas had been crown colonies of England and they did just draw a line (at random basically) deviding the areas and shaping today's countries this way, which we know as Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia, just like they did in so many other places they had colonies at. Devasted the place in the long run basically, even though while leaving, so that people of governments that arise out of this time fight over territories while the tribal people know their lands and act friendly towards each other it's the heritage of those governments that arise causing conflict, especially when some people get into power who want to have more for their tribe, even though the tribe often doesn't care at all, it's just that they enforce it so to make gains for their tribes and then use military regimes that cause chaos and conflict all over Africa, costing lots of innocent people's live at each conflict, when one arises. While the African people and tribes in general are peaceful, just like the overall people everywhere else around the world. It's the view with "power" that way to often cause suffering and loss of many things including life's. If even the last of us would understand that we are after all all the same these suffering could finally end. I hope the world will be like that one day.
