Hi Napalm, this is a really good breakdown! Loved the history info from Drachifinel and the detailed comparison vs it's competitors. More of this style would be awesome and really helpful! :)

The 6" secondaries are knocked out by overpressure, not because of the fragments that penetrate. An Akizuki's 100 mm guns can decimate the secondaries. You also didn't notice that the barbettes have two layers of armour. Shell rooms are not "magazines". They are shell rooms. Magazines are the propellant charges. Hyuuga never had Type 0 HE. The ordinary SAP was considered HE when Hyuuga initially was added to the game, but then they changed it into SAP.

Loved the video mate, great review and stats breakdown from yourself and the informative history from drachinfel. Nice gameplay, overall great format.

It's weird to see the Hyuga is being overperformance by the Fuso when it is supposed to be the improved version of it so i hope the Ise-class will be added with its modernized configurations (But not the hybrid version).

Well, Hyuuga is nerfed on many levels by the devs. Missing armour, incorrect draft, and the whole ship leans towards the stern, making the vulnerable magazines easier to hit.

Hyuga is in a WW1 refit, of course the refitted Fuso is superior.

Thanks for this Guide. I'm on my way to Fuso but the Sturmtiger grind delayed it. I was seeing the Fuso as an Hyuga with WW2 AAs but I guess the difference are more subtile. Now for my toptier Naval line-up I'm hesitating between pairing Fuso with Kongo for caping or pairing Fuso with Hyuga for absolute damage dealing. Got other crew slots but reserved for Mogami (talisman)/ Tone, Shimakaze/ Akizuki, the PT-15, the B7A2 torpedo bomber and finally the float plane Zero for cap clutch. Listin everything made me realise Japan has probably the most polyvalent line-up in Naval.

Such a great dive into history, while showing entertaining gameplay. Subscribed. : )

I definitely felt the 356mm Japanese SAP nerf because I no longer clap Helenas with their magical “anti-fragmentation armor”. In fact, the SAP feels so bad now that even direct hits into shell rooms (not magazines) dont even detonate half the time. Now I just switch to the APCBC, which still feels like hit or miss (depending on the armor thickness of target).

Put this on my max naval crew, going to grind out modifications after the anniversary (since Fuso mods aren’t reduced cost for now).

It’s an older ship class sir but it checks out.

Well the most outrageous ship without it's plane is the Tone. She is litterally an "aviation cruiser" but can't launch a single plane.

@@ousou78 Tone's supposed excuse is that since her deck floatplane facilities were removed in her AA refit, she doesn't get them (even though her catapults are completely intact). But since that excuse doesn't work for Aoba or Fuso I'd imagine it's just laziness on Gaijin's behalf and they're never going to change it.

Not sure what era of ammunition warthunder has based the shell data from but best I can tell from a general Google search the wwII era HE shell was designed as a anti air ordinance with a timed fuse in which case they wouldn't need such a large charge (they also had an incendiary shrapnel shell for AA use) It could also potentially be to do with how warthunder calculates damage. so in order to accurately emulate the post penetration damage of a sap shell they artificially increased its TNT equivalent to get the desired damage. I am just theorising on as I don't know the intricacies of how warthunder calculates the damage a hut does but I think it's plausible e ough to mention

Because they are two different eras. The SAP is from the 1910's and the HE is from the late 1930's. Fragmentation in the 1910's was understood very well and by WW2, Navies around the world realised that too much filler created very small fragments that lost penetration fast. WT doesn't take into account the C/M (charge-to-mass) ratio for calculating fragmentation penetration. It is quite primitive in the sense that more TNTe = more pen.

Is in game height of gunnery camera relative to height of the fire controls in the mast?

i have a 1000 GE laying back from the discount bonanza, would a Yubari for 875 be a good investment? because i would love to unlock japanese ships, in preparation for Yamato cometh.

Absolutly not. Got the Yubari from the warbon shop. Despite not paying I regret getting it. You would be better putting a talisman on a regular tech tree ship. Kako is fun with 8 inch at low tier or Akizuki is fun against other DDs.

napalm there is massive RP nerf for naval for example the USS northhampton from 208% to 160%. It's very painful to grind.

@@Napalmratte I think at Xmas would be the right time. I want the Yamato. I am driving an Mazda CX-30 with Enkei "Yamato" Alluminium wheels. I need in the Game also the Yamato or the Bismarck!!! One of them or the Musashi!!!!

@@robertroccii7117 It's way too early for the Yamatos. First there are many 15 then 16 inch battleships that must be added to the game. Then we could expect to see the Yamato. Seeing the rate of the updates for ships, I would be surprised if Yamato or Musashi are anded in less than 2 years from now.

@@ousou78 You´re right. It´s too early for the most powerful Battleships the world has ever seen. But 2 Years is a long time. Gaijin should make more speed in the Naval forces. I love to get my Sverdlov and kill the Battlecruisers or Battleships if they are not too much in a Game.

Depends. Fuso obviously in firepower

The fuso is incredibly tanky and is superior to all the Japanese BBs by wide margins. It doesn't have the 1 shot weakness of the hyuga and does not have the HE weakness like the Kongo and Haruna. It's AA battery is sufficient and is spaced in such a way that HE spam doesn't wipe 40% in one salvo. However I have noticed my magazines getting detonated by HE from cruisers with them somehow able to slowly turn them red and blow me up

That's just the HE bug ignoring armour plates. Happens and can happen with every other ship. Her frontal shell rooms go up in flames all the time if people aim at them, if you are lucky. Otherwise, they just ignite the magazines too.

Is the Bayern finally fixed ?

Yea good luck playing it. There is a new bug out that blows up your 98% crew battleship with HE like it got ammo racked by AP. Till it gets fixed I'm done playing Battleship. We need a complete overhaul of HE anyway. Name one ship in WW2 that died to HE fire from another ship. Go ahead I'll wait .. couldn't find any? That's because HE shot at a BB or Cruiser even wouldn't do significant damage let alone one shot it. I hear that the crew is modeled spread throughout the ship in cabins. Cabins? In combat the crew would be inside the citadel areas unless they were out on the AAA or secondary guns. He should be modeled where it does maybe 1/4 damage in total to the ship due to fire or such Max. This is because eventually the ship won't have any burnable material up top and the crew would be reduced to the point where the AAA and maybe the secondary guns are unable to fire due to crew loss.
